Good luck, JJ! "...Yes. Even if I have several IE windows open, it closes them all..." That's the thing with Windows, you would also find that Windows Explorer would close along with IE. I believe my own problem was something in the registry that was corrupted clashing with something in the code on certain pages. Hopefully reinstalling will help, it took me a while to think of that, and thankfully it worked. Here's hoping it works for you! |

By JJ - vintagewet@yahoo.ca Wed 30/10/02 17:25:45 GMT Hi Walt: Yes. Even if I have several IE windows open, it closes them all, but the network stays up. I have a High Speed telephone connection.
I am not using any add-ons that I know of and I have scanned for viruses. I'll try re-installing IE, but not until after I've posted this week's update.

By Walt - Wed 30/10/02 13:56:25 GMT Don't know if it's an issue on the forum, or a cache issue between there and here. I had the post a few hours ago & came back to find it gone. I have seen the same thing with other posts, too (not limited to here).
Sorry about the second time around. |

By Walt - Wed 30/10/02 13:53:30 GMT My first post got lost, so here goes again... Does the browser simply close down when trying to get to these sites? Certain versions of IE (mostly earlier versions) do not work well with more than one add-on . For example, the Yahoo! bar and certain popup preventers may cause IE to do strange things. I had a problem similar to yours some time ago, and uninstalled my popup killer, and reinstalled (maybe repaired) IE. I think something got corrupted in the registry & that cured it. The site you mentioned works fine for me. Good luck!! |

By JJ - vintagewet@yahoo.ca Tue 29/10/02 16:49:59 GMT Website: http://vintagewet2.tripod.com/ This is a little off-topic, but we have some excellent "techies" here that may have a solution for this.
There are a few people having difficulty entering the Archive and I have had the same syptoms accessing some other sites. The browser terminates when entering the site.
At first, I thought it was caused by an upgrade to IE, but NS 7.0 does the same thing. I can access all of the Archive sites, but others can't. I cannot access Styx or Katmint.
Any suggestions? JJ
