Just finished watching an entertaining 1935 Maurice Chevalier film called 'Folies-Bergère de Paris' which has a phenominal wet dance number near the beginning. It starts out with a street scene with Maurice singing & dancing in a downpour, much like the Gene Kelly number (must have been it's inspiration). But then the scene bursts into one of those huge revolving stage sets with about 50 female dancers dressed in sequined dance-tops with garters & silk stockings (before nylon) and heels. The whole sound stage is in a deluge and they are splashing their dance number in about 6 inches of water!
It was on "CoolTV", one of the new satalite channels. I'll certainly tape it, if it's on again. Here's a bit of a write-up on it: http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0026373/
