The text of the second one is rather similar to what I have sometimes said to a woman whom I am trying to persuade to go into the sea fully clothed, when she gets to the "everybody will think I'm stupid" stage in the argument. I say something like "well, there may be about 10% of them who think you're stupid; another 10% will think they ought to think you're stupid, but will actually secretly wish they had the courage to do the same; 10% (mostly Asians) will think it's perfectly normal.......and the other 70% won't even notice because they are looking at their own friends and family". [The second "10%", incidentally, usually strikes a chord, because that is how that woman feels herself - if she didn't feel that way the discussion would have stopped before it started].
