I have several times encountered Asian peoples swimming in the clothes they originally put on for some formal event, just because they fancied a swim before or after.    The boxer Tyson Fury is a gypsy, and I read an interview with him recently in which he said that his own gypsy culture is so different from mainstream British culture that they are "like a different race".    It seems likely that their attitude to clothes and water is more similar to that of the Asian races than to our Western one.    Certainly many years ago I encountered a gypsy beach baptism, when they were dressed as they would for going to church in suits, dresses and so on, but that didn't deter them all from wading into the sea up to their hips to closely witness the event.
