The first graphic webbrowser appeared in 1993. Before that time there was the internet with email and newsgroups, but no websurfing. From 1993 to 1995 graphical surfing was not very popular due to bandwidth limitations, and some sort of text only web called Gopher was more popular. There were even search engines for gopher, called Veronica.

By G.O.P. - Sat 26/10/02 09:22:51 GMT Al Gore invented the internet?? BULLSHIT!!! The internet has been around since the late 60's. It wasn't open to the public then. Only the government, large corporations, and especially university professors had access. 300 or less bits per second. Text only. But online networked computing nevertheless. The World Wide Web as we know it has existed since the late 80's (but closed to the public). It was in 91 or 92 that it was first opened to the public. It wasn't until the late 90's that it really took off. The internet was invented by professors and computer professionals, not Al Gore. How typical of a liberal democrat to take credit for something he didn't really do! VOTE REPUBLICAN!!! |

By MK - wamtec@compuserve.com Sat 26/10/02 07:29:53 GMT ...things go back far further than websites and the internet. The very first thing I ever saw that was devoted to wetlook were the early 70's Fiesta Magazines in the UK (and Colin Tywford's photosets of "The Bride in the Bath"). If you ask some of the veteran wetlookers in the USA, they will tell you it was the 1950's "Night and Day" mens magazines that devoted several issues to wet clothes and a "Miss Wet Clothing" competition. The internet is still very new...and wetlook materials and video companies existed at least 10 years prior to 1995 when Al Gore invented the internet. mk |

By Eli - stu_ellisuk@yahoo.co.uk Sat 26/10/02 03:59:40 GMT well, how did u? I had been into women getting wet in their clothes for some time, bu ti just thought thought that only me and my mate were into it. I was on Yahoo! one day and there was an advert for wetkahuna, i went on that and got curious. So i typed in wetlook on search. I picked up wetfreespirit.org, used the links there to get to the bravenet forum and that was 3 or 4 years ago now, and im a daily visiter to this forum. Post on how you found your first wetlook and site and what was it? _________________________________________ Eli
