Given the choice between traditional high waist jeans that have a few rips, or ugly low-rise monstrosities that are undamaged, I'd go for the high waist, but even better if they aren't ripped. It's a fashion style that's come and gone before, it was popular for a while in the 80s though back then the idea was that people bought ordinary jeans and added their own damage with knives or bricks, so each pair was unique - modern fast fashion has just commoditised it. Last time I went shopping for models' gungewear in Primarni they had racks of identical skin tight high waist black jeans with a neat rip on each knee, and I've seen quite a few women wearing them in the cities, they are definitely an improvement on the endless muffin-tops of a few years ago. But to answer the OP's question, I prefer jeans un-ripped, and if they must be ripped, just a little tear somewhere down the leg - any ripping in the trunk area is an automatic no-sale for me.
I think shorts can be wetlook if they are proper Daisy Dukes (traditional, high-waist, cut offs made from an old pair of jeans, that genuinely look like the ones Daisy herself wore in The Dukes Of Hazard), or cargo shorts which are effectively mid-length trousers. Shorter shorts can be wam, where you pour mess in and watch it soak through the fabric and then run down the legs, but seem a bit of a missed opportunity vs longer trousers when used just in wetlook, though still far better than skimpy bikini bottoms. |

By Soak_ed - soak_ed@hotmail.com Mon 02/05/16 22:21:57 GMT I am curious as to how others here feel about jeans that are ripped, torn or have holes in them. In my opinion (and I realize it is only my opinion) I hate them. First reason is I am a wet jeans lover and I want to see wet denim completely covering the legs, not skin. To me such jeans aren't much better than shorts and I don't consider shorts proper wetlook. Secondly, perhaps it goes back to my youth, but I always considered ripped jeans to be ready for the garbage, not proper clothing, to me it looks like shit. As a young boy, when my jeans wore out at the knees, my mother would immediately cut them off and turn them into shorts. It is really appalling to me that people will spend a lot of money on jeans that are pre-ripped just to be fashionable. I imagine many people find them attractive, otherwise they wouldn't be so popular. I am curious as to how others on this forum feel about it. I am not like some folks, I will not yell at producers or people who post photos of girls in ripped or torn jeans as I realize my opinions are only mine and I won't impose my standards on others, that isn't right. I do feel it is ok to express my opinion though. |
