Jim...Paypal was just fine...before it got bought out by Ebay and taken over by new management. The new CEO was like the CEO who founded PAX television...i.e. a born again christian who announced they were on a mission to make their service a family friendly service and to eliminate what they perceive as smut.

FYI...there are credit card processing services that cater specifically to adult sites....like the one Nigel uses at Ozbill.com .... they cater to you alright...they want the shirt off your back and to charge you 12 to 15% commissions off of every transaction, while other merchants only have to pay 2-3% for a merchant account.

There is a discrimination against adult sites that is hard for the banks or credit card companies to justify. Their argument for wanting to charge 3-4 times more in commissions to us is that they deem adult websites to be a "high risk business"...i.e. they say...there is a much higher rate of credit card chargebacks for adult businesses (the theory there is..that husbands often charge adult stuff on their cards without the wife knowing....and when the wife sees the charge on his statements and finds out what he ordered...she makes hubby do a chargeback)....but that theory is hogwash...cos if the banks and credit card issuers are saying the we are more likely to  have a higher rate of chargebacks....just ask us to maintain a higher level of reserves left in our accounts...i.e. we must maintain 2 or 3 grand in our account at all times. So...asking us for a higher reserve balance is understandable...but charging us 3 times more in commissions than regular merchants pay...is just plain gouging.

I have not tried iKobo yet. All I know is...my customers who have tried to sign up...said it was more intrusive than a colon exam. Moneybookers was a royal pain in the arse to get my account registered too...cos even after I sent them scanned copies of my passport, bank statement, and credit card statements..they were still asking for more signatures and documents...and once I got it all set up...they placed these ridiculously pathetic limits on my account...i.e. I can only charge $380 on my credit card in any 60 day period. I sent them a facetious email....to tell them that $380 in 60 days is ridiculous....I spend upwards of 2-3 grand a day on various things....and you can withdraw $400 a day in any ATM in the USA..so whats with this b/s limit of only $380 in charges to my card in 60 days....when my card has a $25,000 limit on it. It is very insulting to be treated like baby when you have over half a million dollars in credit lines from various banks and credit cards.

StormPay and iKobo will start out the same way every other payment service does: attracting adult-material customers by not putting restrictions on what is being bought and sold (within legal bounds). Our dollars will subsequently pay off their initial investment.

Then, once they catch on with the mainstream and become profitable in 2-3 years, they'll get bent over the chair of the Corporate World's political correctness -- just like PayPal, CCNow, MultiCards and others did -- and abandon the very people who helped make them a success.

I'm personally very skeptical of ANY new online payment site, unless it is marketed specifically as an adult system.

FYI....it is not a scam. Merely a promotion for the iKOBO payment service company...which works just like Paypal does....Brian of Crazy Girls already uses this payment system on his site.

FYI...many of us producers have been banned from using PAYPAL these days (due to their new rules banning it's use for adult products) so many webmasters have looked for alternative payment systems to recommend to their customers....and things have gone from bad to worse recently, cos not only does Paypal now ban it's use on adult or fetish sites (which is what wetlook is), but now the Yahoo Paydirect system is also banning it's use for adult products and services too...so both Paypal and Yahoo Paydirect are freezing the accounts of webmasters who use it if they consider their website to be adult or fetish in nature.

We have all been looking for alternative online payment systems...and now this month we are hit with a triple whammy...cos not only are Paypal and Yahoo Paydirect unavailable to us...from next month we now lose another online payment system too...cos the Citibank online payment service called "C2it" have just announced that they are going out of business as from next month.

So...the iKobo payment service (and moneybookers.com) are all we have left these days. All wetstranger is doing is advising their customers that they can accept iKobo payments for orders. The ad is legit...cos all it means is...their service waives the commissions for sending funds up to $200....this is not a scam...but a legitimate payment service company.

However...having said that....I have not used iKobo on my websites so far....cos several people and other webmasters I know have tried it...and they hated it cos of all the burearcracy and paperwork and verifications they want in order to set up and account. Moneybookers is pretty horrid with all their registrations requirements and verifications too....and from what all my friends tell me...iKobo is a royal pain in the ass to get your account set up and running...they ask for too many documents from you.

FYI...most of my friends who got booted off of paypal...now say they prefer using the STORM PAY online payment system at www.stormpay.com

If anybody can suggest any better services that can emulate what paypal use to give us...then let us know.

Anyway...iKobo is not a scam...it is a legit online payment services company.
