Reading your comments I start to appreciate photographers even more than before, it is not as easy as I thought to get beautiful shots like yours.

I guess the entire conversation would be subjective from the both the perspectives of a photographer and a viewer. I don't think Victor's photo is bad at all. Certainly I would had done it differently, I would have applied my own style to the shot, photoshop it differently too, and so would every other photographer. I'm not necessarily seeing what you are seeing in his image, and we all know we had all seen far, far worse images which had been praised on this forum. Stuff like fuzzy, poorly lit long distance shots that seem to generate tons of supportive responses. Hey, to each their own!

Every photographer has their own unique style and some photographers can work within different genres of photography. I can tell you that besides shooting wetlook, I do other types of photography all the time. I sometimes dabble in fashion, glamour and other things. Some of my work has been submitted into galleries and online magazines. For me, keeping well rounded keeps me creative and keeps me from burning out. Other genres of photography gives me an opportunity to develop different techniques and broadens my style. Sometimes what I learn is incorporated into my wetlook work. I can also say that wetlook photography has challenged me enough that I've incorporated what I've learned from it into my other works too. Because I always shoot outdoors, on location in a variety of conditions, I've learned how to work in some of the worse lighting conditions and manage a decent image. I also learned to work within a studio type of environment when it wasn't possible to shoot outdoors. Besides that I've also taken on the challenge of underwater photography, so basically my plate is always full. You can see much of my work by looking me up on the internet under EdwinR, I have a couple of Twitter and Tumblr accounts somewhere....

The difference between fashion and erotica, or more precisely, glamour photography isn't so much that each genre demands a certain style of photography. Rather the photography style is "to highlight" the main element or subject of the images. Fashion photography is all about garments. The clothes, jewelry, shoes, handbags, etc takes center stage. The models tend to be a prop and they select specific body types for models. Glamour differs from fashion, in that it's not about clothes or other items, it's about the models themselves. It doesn't matter if the model is clothed partially clothed or nude, and body types are more diverse, but the model is the subject. You may not know this but there isn't much difference in technique between shooting a fashion ad and a playboy shoot. Exotic locations are used, rows of lights are brought in, dozens of supporting assistants are employed, numerous photographic techniques are used. The only difference is the subject of the shoot.

Thanks again for all your input, I learned so much.

I just realised that maybe I am more accustomed to the shooting style of erotica, like Playboy, where there are higher contrasts and saturated skin tones, than fashion photography, which mostly aims at the opposite and wetlook is probably closer to fashion photography.

A question to producers: Do you do post processing to your pictures or upload as they come out of the camera?

I am just asking because I like to use wetlook pics from my favourite producer (Wetfoto) as a desktop background and I noticed lately that many of the pics, especially the ones taken in bright sunlight, seem to be a bit "washed out" and overexposed.

When I do my image processing magic, they look like a totally different picture without them looking unnatural - adjusting levels and curves to get more contrast and as a finishing touch, I have a new weapon in my arsenal - Topaz Adjust 5, which gives them the required punch - nicer colours and more detail.

This was not meant as a criticism, just a question. I realise that it would be time consuming, but the basic levels and curves could be automated by finding a generic "good value" and use a Photoshop action to batch convert the images.

Thanks in advance for your reply.
