I remember playing around with Lara in his pool in one of the first Tomb Raider games. The clothes did give the impression of wet, but unfortunately there was no partially see through nor we could do much with the character. At least the games are getting better at reflecting reality, I don't doubt that eventually there will be a game where wetlook will be actually very close to what we understand it. Maybe in GTA 7 or The Sims 6? :P |

By bryce (aka brad) - bradandsammie@gmail.com Mon 04/11/13 19:48:07 GMT For PS3 there's a Tomb Raider game that simulated wet clothes really well. Not the most recent one, but the one that came out about four years ago. Good game, too. She has lots of outfits to change into and they did a nice job (best I've seen anyways) of getting the look of wet clothes down. |

By wettuga - wettuga@gmail.com Mon 04/11/13 15:12:27 GMT Website: uadhw Maybe they did found a cure for baldness, but since it's not a disease, Picard just opted not to do anything about it. And it seems cybernetic eyes were only invented after 2371, until then poor Geordi La Forge had to use that huge retro ugly "Visor" over his eyes. Even Google glasses are smaller!
Yeah, I wouldn't mind having a holodeck at home, too. But when that comes to reality, many businesses, including the wetlook business, will go bankrupt as we will no longer have the need to buy stuff when we can virtualize it. Heck, we don't even need to buy a home! Four walls, a ceiling and a holodeck device will do just fine ;) Just imagining being able to swim in whatever scenario I can think off, with any clothes I wish and with whoever I want send chills up my spine...
By the way, is there any program/game that comes close to simulate actual wet clothes? I once played "The Sims 1" and was able to make the characters shower or go to the pool in their clothes, but there was no wetlook effect (are newer SIMs games better at this?). GTA series fail on this field too, as well as that other games I have played in the past. It would be nice to have some kind of game or application where we could dress up a woman and make her play in the pool/rain/shower/bath/etc. Or maybe 2 women. Or 3! Where can I pre-order my holodeck? :P |

By MK - wamtec@comcast.net Mon 04/11/13 14:07:29 GMT ....and who knew in 1987 (when that episode was written and aired).....that it would only be 8 more years to go before searching for that topic that would no longer like searching for a needle in haystack, and by 1995 when the internet first opened to the public, then that subject matter would now become as common as searching for a girl in a bikini.
There are many inventions that the Star Trek shows accurately predicted and many others that have never come true (I am still waiting for a transporter beam cos I hate flying on airplanes and waiting at airports.....just beam me up Scotty).
The most depressing thing about the Star Trek TNG series, is that it is set in the 23rd century......and it must be depressing to think that 300 years in the future....and STILL they have not yet discovered a cure for BALDNESS....ha ha
For me, the ultimate invention for a wetlook fan would be to have a "holodeck" in my home where you can go into a virtual wetlook world of your own creation.

By wettuga - wettuga@gmail.com Mon 04/11/13 07:46:27 GMT Just noticed a cool sentence at 15:05 while watching Star Trek S01E03.
Some kind of disease was brought onboard the ship by Geordi that makes people feel extremely hot (as in heat, not sexy), Commander Riker asks Data to scan for people showering in clothes, to which Data replies: "Seeking an instance of someone showering in his or her clothes is..." and Riker completes with "I know, it's like looking for a needle in a haystack."
