I can think of many valid reasons why some webmasters close their sites....but lack of funding for hosting space is not a valid argument in this day and age when there are numerous sites that offer free hosting services, and you have folks like myself and Flaviu and Graham who have always shown a willingness to support those folks who need free hosting space too.

The most common and valid reasons for folks to close their sites are:

* Lack of Time, due to a new job or increasing workloads, they no longer have the time to maintain their sites any more.

* Loss of interest, cos most of the wetlook webmasters I know are single people who devote a great deal of energy into their hobby....but when they meet a new partner in life, then their interest wanes, cos now they prefer to spend more time with their partner interest.

* Loss of motivation, cos there are a lot of former wetlook webmasters I have seen come and go over the last 10 years, who are not true 100% diehard wetlook fans themselves, and only had a half hearted interest in wetlook, but mostly they were wetlook opportunists who thought that creating wetlook media was going to be a good commercial business to be in, so they were mostly interested in the commercial side of selling their wares. This has mostly been amateur porn models who thought they could pretend to be wetlook fans in order to make a buck, but their heart was never really in the wetlook subject matter themselves, so after they had their sites for a couple of years, they suddenly learned the hard cold truth....i.e. that nobody gets rich making and selling wetlook media.....so they close their sites once they realize they cannot make a big income each month. I call these folks "the pretenders"....cos a true wetlook fan who runs his own site, never shuts down for monetary reasons.....a true wetlook fan only shuts down for personal family reasons or work related reasons.

Heck....people have criticized our wambank site for years, claiming that I was getting rich off that site.....when the reality is that the wambank site is no different to Nigel's forum...i.e. both sites get a very small amount of financial support each month (this forum gets it from banner sponsors, and thewambank gets it from it's premium members)....but that support only covers about half of our dedicated server costs.....so both this forum and the wambank have been operating at a loss for many years, but Nigel and I keep these sites online and we absorb those losses every month anyway....cos thats the definition of a true wetlook fan.......if you truly have an interest in the wetlook culture.....then you find a way to overcome financial issues.

It is understandable why Wetmar had to close her site, cos she had personal family issues with her spouse who did not approve of her online activities....and I have known several wetlook fans over the years....who's wives eventually divorced them....because the hubby could not give up his wetlook activities of hiring and shooting models (no more than a gay person can give up being gay),,,,while the wife could not tolerate what they were doing in creating wetlook media....so the wife eventually divorced that person. I have also known some wet fans who used to have sites, and their wives forced them to shut them down too.

I can understand why it can become demoralizing for some webmasters.....when the sites they created suddenly get crushed like a bug by evolving technologies and some mainstream sites that totally swamp them out like a tidal wave......i.e. it has been hard for Flaviu and I to keep theWambank open these days, cos I invented the concept of a wam clips site back in 2000....and from 2000 to 2005 many wet and messy fans would visit our site....but then in 2005 there was a "game changer"....and some site called YOUTUBE was born in 2005....and after Youtube was created, it basically drained 95% of our traffic away from our clips site, and today we only get about 10% ofther traffic we used to get 5 years ago. So...when Youtube basically kills your site....then you start to ask "whats the point" of keeping the wambank open these days, cos 95% of the wet and messy fans prefer to go to Youtube these days anyways. But I keep it open, despite the very low traffic it gets these days, cos I like it...and we still have a small base of fans who like to see clips they cannot find on Youtube.

I can understand when somebody has been online for a few years....and now suddenly they have a new job in the mainstream world and they do not want people to find their old postings on the internet....cos these days employees are now doing internet background checks....to see what you have been posting online before....so some people quickly close their sites and try to erase their old facebook postings etc. But you can't erase your past....cos there are government sites like http://archive.org/index.php / www.archive.org and it's wayback machine that have been storing snapshots of website domains for the last 17 years......and even if you take your site down, you can still find old copies stored at Archive.org dating back to the 1990's.....cos I can still see copies of all my old websites dating back to 1996 that are recorded on this U.S government Archives site.

Of course...folks are free to say what they like when they quit......politicians who quit always like to say they are quitting so they can "spend more time with their family"....ha ha..I love it when they say that...especially when it turns out they are spending more time with their mistress.

And that is actually a believable thing to say......but saying you cannot afford the hosting costs when there are many sites offering free hosting for bloggers.....that is ludicrous.

I have also always been suspicious of this reason for blogs closing. It doesn't make any sense in an age when so many cloud based services are provided for free. But thanks for spelling this out, MK.

I also loved the siren site. Although it didn't get updated very often, there was always enough fresh content to keep me interested and I even posted a few stories of my own. In any case, there was such a large bank of stories, there was fun to be had just by browsing to something random.

Come on, Mr Siren, sort it out!

Hey guys.....I just don't understand your reasoning for closing your blogs or site.....cos lack of funding has never been an issue....cos there are PLENTY of places where you can create blog sites FOR FREE and you will not have ANY hosting costs.

I feel like I am beating my head against the wall.....cos Flaviu and I have REPEATEDLY over the last 5 years been telling wam fans that we already created a FREE BLOG SYSTEM at our Wambank site....where anybody at theWambank can register for free and set up their own unique blog site with their own unique URL....and all the hosting costs are paid for by MK on my server.

We have had this blog system for 5 years.....but only 5-6 people ever used it, and we promoted the system many times....but for some reason most folks ignored our system and preferred to use BLOGGER or WORDPRESS instead (which are ALSO free to use). But our Blog system is still there....gathering dust....cos nobody has been using it recently....here is one of the blogs that was started on our system and is still online....

Erik Elsas, Tracie and several others were using our blog system....but for some reason they stopped updating their blogs....but our system is still available and online and free for anybody to use. Just register at the wambank and create your own blog....

Flaviu and I know there are lots of producers and fans in the past who do not like our wambank site....and so they boycotted our site....but look at the traffic rankings for the top 10 most visited sites in the wetlook and messy world.....these are the top 10 sites in our world that get the most traffic, as per Alexa traffic rankings....

So....if you want to reach as many wetlook fans as possible with your stories or blogs or pics......it makes sense to have your blog where it will get the highest traffic from wetlook fans.

The number one ranked site in the wam world is not a wetlook site.....it is the UMD forum which is predominantly for messy fans....so the number one wetlook site in the world is THIS forum. But does this forum have such sophisticated features such as the ability to upload and host pics or to imbed videoclips or to write your own blogs or conduct your own polls....NO....this forum is as basic as a 1980's style forum....and has none of the modern features that modern forum softwares (such as Graham;s forum) have. You can't post pics or imbed videos or conduct polls or write blogs here.....so....whats the 2nd most visited site in the Wetlook world.....it is our WAMBANK site.....which can do all of those things that this forum cannot do. But for some reason....people do not want to use our FREE blog system......go figure.

So....I am sorry....but I do not buy the phoney baloney excuse that you have to close your site cos you cannot afford your hosting costs....cos Flaviu and I have been offering free hosting for years....and so has Graham and his wetlook forum...cos Graham has been very generous and has provided free hosting for lots of producers as well....e.g. he provided free hosting for JJs vintage wetlook site (and still does). So...you have Graham, myself and Flaviu....all offering free hosting services to those folks who have the motivation and want to write stories. So....please be more honest about your real reasons for closing your sites.....cos it has nothing to do with lack of funding to support your sites....cos for years myself, Flaviu and Graham have been offering free hosting support from our servers and systems.

Even if you do not like our Wambank site and do not want to reach the largest audience by using the 2nd most visited site in the wetlook world.....your argument is still disengenous to gripe about the hosting costs....cos look at the message thread below this one....from SOAKFANN......cos what does Soakfann use......he uses the FREE blog system called BLOGGER.COM. We offered Soakfann a free blog at our wambank site too....but he preferred to use the Blogger.com system.....which is cool....cos both systems are free.....but with Blogger you face a higher risk of deletion if you post any erotic pics.

So....if you do not like our free Blog system at the Wambank....you can always use the free Blog system at Blogger.com

And if you do not like either of those 2 systems......you can always used WORDPRESS....which is free and has loads of features too. Just look at this wet and messy blog site ....this is the biggest and best blog site in the wet and messy world....this guy does an amazing job....and he uses wordpress

I can feel the pain, my own Fantasy Weltook blog just closed down for the same reasons. It's a lot of work to write. Somehow I wasn't able to even get advertiser networks like Google to generate any funds.

My Stockings blog is a different story. Actually somehow hosiery fans are very generous in that sense. They constantly offer to write for me, to send me pantyhose, some even send donations through paypal. I also recently got some sponsors recently.

I am in contact with Siren. He had to close down because of high costs for the Hosting.

There was not a lot of positive feedback and also little participation of writers ... it's always the same ;-))(
