I fully sympathize with those who feel inhibited about swimming in public, but my advice to them is - get over it, few observers really care, enjoy yourself. When I was a kid and even a young teenager I somehow knew intuitively that nobody would think it "odd" and I did it whenever I had the chance - much, in early years, to my mother's annoyance. In my college and grad school years I never swam clothed; it was a combination of (mostly) not the opportunity, but also the response and fear of peer pressure / peer opinion that I believe is at its height for most of us at that time. In my late twenties I returned to character. I should say that this was mostly in the sea and in rivers and lakes; for one thing, unfortunately many pools here in the States forbid clothed swimming. At first I tried to restrict these activities to when I was unobserved or nearly so, and felt embarassed if "caught", but gradually realized, as another has stated, why should I care what observers think? Now when I go to the seaside (several times a year) I spend most of every day in wet clothing, both in the sea, beside it, and on the balcony. I go regularly in the swimming pool if the rules allow.

Having said that, I will comment that I only go swimming in casual clothing - jeans, beach trousers, shorts, etc. It is fortunate for me that that's what I like anyway, but for those of you who prefer getting wet in elegant or "dress" clothing, I can assure you that in most public places in the States, if you get soaked ALONE in such dress somebody will call the police and you will be embarassingly questioned about your mental state. Yet if you do so with a woman - definitely OK even if thought maybe a bit kinky - and even with one or more other males - probably get a pass.

All right, I have to know how many people actually do this? I am a regular happily married guy with kids and a good job. I travel for businesss every two months or so. When away, I will usually go to the motel pool later at night with jeans and a t-shirt on for a swim. I always wait until there is nobody around, but I have done this so many times that it doesn't phase me if somebody shows up an " busts" me. I just get out and leave. My wife knows about my fetish and although we shower fully clothed together, she is very uncomfortable in swimming clothed in public. She seemed a little weirded out when she found out that I do this alone at motel pools. but after we talked about it, she said that as long as I wasn't doing it with another woman, she was ok with it. Does anyone else have similar experiences?
