Haha MK I hear you on the Falklands and sheep.

But I didn't develop the fetish there alas. Wetlook on the Falklands....Ibiza and the water parties weren't the rage down there. Oddly enough. :-)

I had it from way before but it was down there I first found out I wasn't the only guy in the world with this obscure fetish when I read that article on Splosh. From memory the title of the article was "the cling is the thing" and I'm sure it was about the old Splosh magazine and a video producer in Bath, Somerset area of the UK. Wish I could remember the name of the company. That led to Nigel's old candid VCR tapes. I didn't get online until 98ish.

I remember doing my swimming lessons at school as a kid...gold/silver/bronze and Honours at school where they started you at pyjama's at bronze and you ended up with shoes, trousers and shirt and jumper by honours badge and thinking hey this is great.

It's why I'm fascinated now. From taking anything you could get I've narrowed it down to exactly what works for me now....as in build up/taboo/weddings/formal wetlook. Back in the day a wet vest would have buzzed me. We've been spoiled. Long may it last. :-)

Wow......you say

"I got to 20 years old (in 1992) whilst based in the Falkland Islands"

One wonders how somebody can develop a wetlook fetish when they grew up on the Falkland Islands........cos you say the same old joke about Falkland Islanders as you can about Kiwi guys from New Zealand...cos in New Zealand the sheep outnumber human beings by 27 to 1....and as per Wikipedia the Falkland Islands  only has a population of 3140 people....while there are 700,000 sheep....so the sheep outnumber the humans by 222 to 1.....so the old joke is....

....New Zealand.....a place where men are men.....and sheep are nervous.....ha ha

Now....if you had a developed a fetish for angora or mohair sweaters (which some of my wet sweater customers requiest my models to wear in the pool)....that would make sense.

I must admit....my wetlook interests developed in my childhood when I used to go on holiday with my parents to the beaches in the UK in the 1960's......and I would be at Margate or Brighton  and used to see the loads of "Mods" show up in a fleet of Lambrettas (just like the scenes from the movie "Quadrophenia") and then all their girlfriends would cavort in the sea in their miniskirts and colored tights and boots. But I think if I had grown up on the Falkland Islands.....I doubt I would ever have seen any wetlook at all......and so I may have ended up becoming a "normal person"....ha ha

As Benny Hill used to say......"Ohhhhh   Sheep Dip"

....the psychology of it now. Like MK/Gary Kay allude to now we can pick and choose down to how/why/long sleeve/white clothes/jeans/formal dresses. We're so lucky. And wetlook fan/fetish is not a blanket all. It goes even deeper. Gone are the days when seeing 3 wet t-shirts per year on TV with no way to capture it. The internet changed everything. Enjoy it whilst it lasts.

I got to 20 years old (in 1992) whilst based in the Falkland Islands until I found out I wasn't THE ONLY person on the planet interested in wet clothes. That's pretty massive. And it was only in a soft porn mag (hey those nights are long and boring down there mid-winter :-) ) that did an article on the old 'Splosh' magazine that made me there were others who liked what we like.

Be careful to forget how lucky we are these days...... :-) "in my day....." Hahaha.

I watched this episode last night, it was pretty good for my personal wetlook tastes and it's repeated throughout the week on BBC3 (Ch115 on Sky). It's also on BBC iPlayer.

The premise of the series is that the bride hands over ALL control of the wedding to her groom, down to the theme, venue and dress etc. Last night's episode was the groom choosing to get married in a swimming pool, but the bride doesn't find out anything on the wedding until literally when she turns up on the day. The groom usually, invariably, gets something wrong. The bride is rarely 100% happy, but hey the TV programme gives them Ģ12k to plan the wedding so it's a trade off I guess if a couple can't afford the money!! It's one of those naff fly on the wall series.

I'm fascinated by the psychology of wetlook, in why people do it and why some won't. Last night's episode was very interesting to me with how different people react: "Women going to the wedding, (and not to spoil the ending the bride to be as well....are well horrified when it dawns that she is going to go in to the pool....her dress!!....her make up!!....her hair!!. The groom and his mates see it as a laugh so both parties are well apart on getting a bride wet.

Weddings are my fave kind of wetlook, and I love to hear/see the build up as in will they/won't they go in the lake/pool/sea and what makes them decide to (or not in the end) so maybe last night's programme was more to my taste than others (50 mins of the episode is the groom planning the wedding with horrified dress makers and venue managers saying to the groom "You're going to do what?? In her Dress?? Does she know?? You're brave/mad).

Check it out. As said it's repeated if you can get to Sky/BBC3 or the BBC's iPlayer.
