Baptism has no power. Faith has no power. To believe isn't enough, God must do His part and give the gift of the Holy spirit, as promised. Because God can not lie, the source of empowerment isn't a lie.
Christianity is the only religion without a dead martyr, that's a pretty good selling point. Believing in Christ ensures eternal life, wow! But if that was the only motivation people had to become Christian, and the guarantee that life would become perfect, rich and easy, then EVERYBODY would want that, and the world and heaven would become a greedier place, wouldn't it?
Becoming a Christian does not get rid of the wetlook fetish. So there's no need to worry!. When wetlook is all there is to satisfy the human desire (and it's a good one indeed while it lasts) then it gets old really fast, and it comes and goes like a yoyo that goes nowhere but up and down. So there ya go! |

By guitar guy - Thu 16/08/12 09:47:53 GMT In the process of being baptized, it is entirely possible SOME people have enjoyed the idea of getting wet in their clothes, without any doubt. Would this indicate a participant is any less committed to serving God in the name of Jesus? No, not really For anything that's worldly or self serving ALL people are already forgiven. All you have to do is receive it.
The people who get baptized (doesn't matter if they enjoyed it or not) have taken a stand on God's side.
Is it right to sin? no! Does sin please God? no! So why do we do it? It's natural! (the natural man, the natural way) We are hopeless cases but by faith can be converted out of its slavery.
It is the STANCE they take, and their FAITH that makes the difference. Christians never think they're better than anybody It is just like converted said, she got dunked as a sinner, then emerged a wet sinner. Baptism is symbolic, it does not literally wash away sin. It is in obedience to God's word. And speaking of a great feeling, obedience to God word is more liberating than wetlook. In fact, wetlook is slavery. (this should be so easy to understand)
The people in this video are imperfect, needless to say, but are for real and truly blessed. |
In reply to Message (55274.5.1) From a Christian standpoint
By converted - Thu 16/08/12 00:51:01 GMT Baptism is in obidiance to Christ. He was baptised by John the Baptist in the Jordon River and to this day Christians from all over the world when they give their lives to Christ do this as he would do... Sin will always be there...You can go down in the water a wet sinner and come out a wet sinner. It is the lambs blood that saves you. If many of you would just listen to the person conducting the baptism instead of just waiting to see a wet girl, you would understand the purpose of it.... Thank You...a follower of Christ |
In reply to Message (55274.5) An analytical answer, if you must
By AnthonyX - anthonyx@jowc.net Wed 15/08/12 17:26:30 GMT From a non-religious perspective with limited knowledge of Christianity:
Baptism is the ceremonial admission of a candidate into Christianity or a specific branch or even a specific congregation. (got that from Wikipedia)
Christian doctrine holds that we are all born tainted with "original sin". Baptism could be seen either as washing away that sin or, a "rebirth" free of original sin. (Water holds all kinds of symbology)
It all comes down to what you choose to believe, and what all the various rituals and trappings are meant to symbolize, bearing in mind that it's all intended to remind one of the underlying meanings and reinforce belief.
