Missed opportunity

I have just seen "Overboard" on television here, and want to comment on the final scenes. If you have seen the movie, you would have known that Goldie Hawn jumps into the sea in an evening dress. I thought the scene itself was very poor, in that she had a life-jacket on, and that there were no after shots.
