This sort of sad thing just happens. In the high and very high HDI countries it does not happen often, but still no one can stop all the lunatics before they act. There was a situation some years ago when a Swedish minister was attacked at a mall by knife and also killed - no weapons involved. A few months ago also an assistant to a politician (who was not present) got killed by gunfire in Lodz, Poland - a country in which gun regulations are very tight, guns are few, robberies at gun point are still headline news and most turn out to be using gas/fake/toy guns. I'm far from right wing. I'm a pacifist, I would never buy a gun or go to war, but I think the blaming of gun regulations every time something like this happens in the USA (or the Philippines - that was in the news some time ago to) is just plain funny. These things happen everywhere - as I pointed out above. Same thing with other lunatic shootings like those in schools. When some of the most publicized happened in the USA and Finland everyone talked about gun control. Then quite a few happened in Germany - which has tight gone control. Lunatics are everywhere. Sad but true. And no country is better or worse, they are just different.
