In reply to Message (48317) Experiences with a troll on the Nasse Klamotten forum
By Justin Case - Mon 03/01/11 01:21:14 GMT At the end of the 90s a very intractable troll appeared on the Nasse Klamotten forum. The admins then created a login forum. Of course he reacted with tons of new login nicknames and started using proxies ( wich was pretty much predictable ). The terror last 10 long years. Creating a statistic script to read-out similarities in the logfile protocoll is easy. So you can allocate all nicknames, email adresses and system properties to a singel person. But what can you do with all the information? You can just identify your troll, but what for? You will recognize him anyway. For 10 long years it was almost impossible to post anything without a stupid follow-up by this creepy fellow. Sick minds can have a long breath... Suddenly he seemed to be retireing. I don't know. In fact there is nothing you can do against a troll but ignoring him. We lived with him for 10 f***ing years. These guys are sick and terms of comprehension or sanity have no relevancy for them.
Nigel is right and it matches with our experiences. A login system is not a sollution against a troll. It just means more work for the admins and confirms the troll's success.
