If you really want to kill the forum then just have all moderators stop moderating. The moderators do much more than any password system could ever do! The yahoo forums were password protected but still got flooded with spam.

Valid point Leon, Nigel has fallen off the map... as have I when it comes to producing... and I don't blame him. Sad and he will be missed but hey people have lives to live.

There is nothing stopping you (or anyone) from creating a replacement forum and telling everyone 'hey come post here instead'!

But I just don't see any suitable replacement appearing on the horizon. There was the WamMonkey forum a couple years back and when it was obvious that the spammers had taken over the forum simply keeled over and died. People just stopped posting and found a new outlet.

It just hasn't happened b/c this is a reasonably nice forum, where 90%-ish people are legitamite posters, not too much spam or nasty comments really.

How much exactly do you think a forum is to host, thousands of pounds???

It is JUST a forum!!!

It is the contributors to it that make it what it is and it is very insulting to all of us to give all the credit to Nigel, who without us would just be hosting a blank page with his banners at the top of it!!

What wetlook has Nigel created or filmed in the last 10 years, how many links has he shared, what has he talked about recently, where has he been?

So it is only fair that we DEMAND a better system!

It's Nigel's forum and seems to me out of order to push him in to registration forum. I don't know about extra cost, extra time it would take, but maybe Nigel has better things to do with his time??

MK seems to be the loudest provocateur, but appears unwilling to take the time to host a forum, which Nigel has done for years for free.

It seems shite that online politics and ego's drip over in to the wetlook world ffs, but they obviously do.

It's not hard to ignore a spammer. They crave attention, so some of you guys give them this when all you have to do is hit the back button.

This has gone on too long and it will continue to get worse. I suggest that this forum becomes a "sign up" membership forum with username and password. The password should be an assigned one from the forum and unchangeable by the user. I think this will be a better control for people like "anonymous" constantly spamming the forum. I do understand it'll be tedious to get a system working here, but I think it's worth the consideration.

Comments anyone?
