Once they start paying for your material they can become much more critical and demanding.

When you start taking people's money they rightly expect a professional service in return. They cut a lot of slack with amateur sites, but paysites are a different matter, people's expectations increase once they start paying for material.

Even things like a server problem or they have lost their password- they expect instant results and many complain bitterly if they don't get it. Just a few words of advice.

If you don't want to move to a paysite you can always password protect some of it and only make the password available to selected people- maybe only those who buy your tapes/disks.

Your biggest bandwidth problem is coming from the video clips. WetKahuna went through something like this a year or two ago. My suggestion was basically the same solution he came up with: cut way back on the free video clips.

One point I'd like to make though: You currently have no pics available for preview (OK, maybe one). An interested individual would have to subscribe to the pay site without knowing what they will get. Also, the way it is set up at present, it looks like only a subscribing member can order videos.

If you are responding to bandwidth charges, I think it would be because of the video clips you've been putting up, not necessarily the pics. Your free picture galleries were never that large, but I was surprised at the amount of video material you were posting for free.

However, I think you've taken your measures a little too far. I'd suggest that if you want to offer a pay site, and sell videos and/or picture CDs, keep a few sample pics of all your offereings in a free area. I'd also suggest leaving no more than one or two video clips in a free area. Anyone who will pay for your offerings will want some idea of they are getting before they spend their money; especially those who haven't seen your site before.

I hope you will be able to keep your site open, and continue offering wetlook material. I think it ranks among the best on the net.
