True.....often scenes that are cut or severly edited in films....you get to see those things as "DVD extras" or "deleted scenes" from a movie.

A good example of that being the Sharon Stone 2006 movie "Basic Instinct 2"....cos in the theatrical release of that film they cut out an entire wetlook scene from the film where Sharon is soaking wet in a purple blouse in an office scene......cos that scene was not in the final cut of the film, but I knew it existed cos I had seen some production stills...but it got cut from the film. However when the dvd was released (after the movie bombed within 3 days at the box office) they included that deleted scene in the dvd extras menu....so you can only see that scene if you rent or buy the dvd. Also on the dvd is a nice documentary showing "the making off" the scene where Sharon drives her car into the river....and you see nothing but a few brief underwater shots in the actual film, but in "the making of "documentary on the dvd extras...you see sharon in her dress, wading into the water tank at Pinewood studios and then emerging from the water tank etc....so thats a nice bonus you see on the dvd extras.

Some DVD companies are good at adding nice goodies as dvd extras on the dvds.....but other dvd releases are very stingy and they still do not show you the deleted scenes I "know" were shot and cut from the film....e.g.

1) In the 1999 Calista Flockhart version of "A Midsummer Night's Dream"...they shot a very nice scene where Calista is riding her bicycle in the pouring rain and then playing fully clothed in a fountain.....it was cut from the film.....and never added to the DVD when they released the DVD.

2) In the 1994 Erika Eleniak movie "Chasers"...they shot a scene where Erika is being chased thru a water park in her summer dress...and then she slides down a water slide and comes out of the pool in her dress. That entire sequence was cut from the film.....and never added to the DVD when they released the DVD.

I have video footage of bits of both of these scenes....from the Entertainment Tonight show....cos they showed some behind the scenes footage of them shooting those scenes....so I was pretty disappointed when those movies came out and both of those scenes got cut from the film.

Another "gem" you can find on a DVD release of a film....that you will never see on tv ....is if you get the special 40th anniversay edition of "The Sound of Music"...cos if you get that boxed set....it comes with a special documentary showing the making of the film...and it includes rare 8mm behind the scenes footage of director Robert Wise ....constantly pouring more buckets of water over Julie Andrews.....cos that Julie Andrews wet scene in the film is a very long scene ...she is on camera for 8 minutes in a supposed wet dress...and every wetlook producer will tell you that wet "look" only lasts for about 2-3 minutes....and if you want to maintain the wet look for a long scene....you need to keep "wetting the actresses down" (see the special pages devoted to this subject on the www.vintagewet.com site and wetfans rare photos of these events).  Apparently Julie Andrews was getting a little irritated that director Robert Wise kept watering her down with his watering can...and you can see from personal film footage of this on the dvd release.

Maybe something will show up on the DVD's extra features, like a "Makingof" doc?

Well....here is the image we all saw posted to the net in order to promote the film.....

http://www.empireonline.com/images/image_index/hw800/35359.jpg

Great pic....but that shot is definitely NOT in the actual film in the way you see it portrayed in the photo....in the actual movie it is a long distance shot that flies by at 90 mph so there are no lingering wetlook shots to see at all.....cos that entire pool scene lasts about 2.5 seconds in the final cut of the film.

...and so you ask "why" is the film edited this way.....thats because it is a Jerry Bruckheimer film....and Jerry is the King of Action packed movies....and so all Jerry Bruckehimer films are "rollercoaster" style films where all the action flies by at lightning pace.....so there is no time to hang around for wetlook shots....ha ha...

This is why Jerry Bruckheimer films always make 200 million at the box office....and Wetlook Producers are lucky if their videos make $200.00 in sales.....cos action packed movies sell....and slow paced wetlook scenes are considered to be boring by mainstream Hollywood.....ha ha.

But look on the bright side......if Hollywood knew how to do wetlook scenes properly in the way we like them....they would put all the current wetlook producers out of business....and the ONLY reason wetlook producers exist....is because they are able to do something that Hollywood is unwilling to do properly.

Why are those nice scenes left out, I wondered. Is it censorship, puritanism - fear that we enjoy wetlook ?
In reply to Message (45132) None 2 more wetlook tips (1 good one for horse riding girls wet fans)

The good tip is

- For horse riding girls wetlook scenes, I just received the DVD boxed set of the old 1971 UK tv series "Follyfoot" (made by Yorkshire television from 1971 to 1973 - 39 episodes). I had not seen this series in decades, but they recently released it on dvd. I did not have time to scan all the episodes yet, but so far I found an excellent wetlook scene on episode 2, where lead actress Gillian Blake swims fully clothed across a river with her horse, and she gets totally wet up to her neck (not just her riding pants). So, if they are airing the "Follyfoot" tv series on the UK Gold channel...check it out, or you can rent the series from UK video stores.

The don't waste your time tip is...

- Remember all those awesome still photos we saw last year...of the lead actress  totally soaked while making the film PRINCE OF PERSIA....well...now the film has been released and I checked it out....and they did the same thing to us that they did on the TWILIGHT ECLIPSE movie...i.e. none of the great wetlook pics that we saw on the internet...ended up in the final cut of the film. All you see is yet another 3 second long shot of the girl jumping from a window into a pool...and then climbing out....all long distance...no close ups or money shots. So...none of the wetlook pics we saw during the making of that film....can be seen in the actual film itself.....another cop out scene.
