that's why I'm shocked that as fountains are concerned it's the other way around. I don't know where you live, but for instance this year the Europride gay parade event is coming for the first time to the East, to Warsaw, Poland. Warsaw has an opinion of being the most tolernat city in Eastern Europe for such events, and though small, the normal annual gay pride parades have been going on here without problems for some years now (as opposed to Moscow, Vilnius or even other Polish cities - like Krakow), though probably Prague is even better in freedom then Warsaw. However this pan-European parade may end badly. The ultra-conservative to neo-nazi to soccor hooligans groups are "getting prepared" and the police will have a though job on the day of the parade. While in Madrid, Berlin or even Zurich such parades are just a party situation. So judging by this I thought that generally tolerance to everything is higher in the west, but maybe it isn't the case. I've lived in a few countries around the world, but I've never been in any Western European country for more then the two month vacation period, so I don't really know alot about day to day life there. I've lived in the USA though and was also a trifle shocked that "freedom" there was sometimes very harsh and the police could do things that wouldn't be possible in Estonia or Romania, but I thought Western Europe had no such problems.

I wouldn't be banned for inappropriate language, but in my mind, the western countries do not represent freedom of speech or freedom of any kind nowadays. I encourage you to read the international press to make up your own opinion. I'm very sad of this... Maybe you know me: I'm a wetlooker lesbian. You cannot imagine the words I heard from certain persons when I'm wading fully clothed with my girl friend. Some people would kill us! Or at least, they promise us to do so. To avoid problems, we practicise in our own pool... Until the day it will be forbidden not to offence some persons who should see us...

I'm shocked. Even in the black days of communism you would only be informed to get out of a fountain by the police in Eastern Europe. Now, there are no problems at all (as can be seen in Moscow). I am shocked to be informed, that in the so called "most free countries of the free world" like the UK and Italy, you can get arrested. In Warsaw, Poland for instance there is one fountain that's part of an old par complex and you can't bath in it, but the police will just ask you to get out. But there is no talk of arresting or even fines. And in the UK they arrest? What has this world come to... :/

....the Trafalgar Square clip is interesting.....cos it begs the question of whether political correctness or reverse discrimination is taking place in the UK. Cos the cops (wardens) at Trafalgar Square have banned people from going into the fountains since 2008....which is why Wet Brian and others gave up going to T Square.....cos the wardens and other cops started banning and arresting people if they went into the fountains (as the Italian police will do if you try to go in the Trevi fountain in Rome).

So....they stopped allowing the general public from going into the T Square fountains and placed them off limits 2 years ago.....but now I see they allow gay pride marchers to freely go into that same fountain.....do the the gay and transgender people get a free pass to go in those fountains that the rest of us don't get !!!

I am all for equality, but I am against giving preferential treatment to special interest groups of people while banning the rest of us from going in those same fountains.

Wet Brian....are you out there....maybe we should check things out again at T Square and find out if they are enforcing the ban at the fountains again, cos it seems to be an unfair system where gay people are allowed to go in a fountain, but they placed a ban on going in those fountains for the rest of the general public for the last 2 years.
