Yeah....that is what I would really prefer too...an incrementing total of thanks or kudos listed against each users username, cos then what happens with other forum softwares is that each poster rises thru a hierachy of rankings according to how many postings they made or how many kudos or thank yous they received...i.e. non posters are called "junior members" or lurkers, folks who post occasionally or who's kudos reach x level have an "intermediate level" ranking on the forum, and the top posters who have many kudos are called advanced or senior members of the forum etc. Creating a hirearachy of users gives recognition and motivation to the top posters to contribute regularly, and the junior members or lurkers get the benefit of getting a lot more media to see every day etc.

But....this cannot be done unless we have a registration system where everybody only uses one username. Seeing as a registration system that controls the usernames is not on the cards at this time, then a kudos or thank you counter can only count one particular posting....not a users entire portfolio of postings....but a kudo count at the message posting level would be better than nothing.

MK - I confess I'm one of the ones (might guess from the nom-de-plume) who has really enjoyed all your posted fountain vids without comment here - and I guess my way of saying thanks has been to purchase several full-length DVD's over the last 2-3 years from time to time. I admit I very seldom post "thank you" replies when you or other producers post. The posts which do get lots of simple "thank you" replies make it difficult to decide which responses to click on and read - because although I understand their importance to you; clicking on, downloading and reading a bunch of "thank yous" is really a complete waste of time for me - and I sometimes end up missing interesting conversations which develop because I think they all look like thank yous.

I really like your suggestion to Nigel, if its easily implemented. I'd be an enthusiastic user of a "thank you" button which would enable you to tally the responses easily, while avoiding a whole bunch of "thank you" postings which are not of interest to everyone else on the forum. It would be good to see an incrementing total by your name within posts, which would mark you and others as some of the most valuable participants here.

Here's hoping you'll go back to posting more extracts from your fountain vids - its those video extracts which led me to buy the full-length media I've purchased from you.

FYI....these are terrible low quality recyclings of my media that my camera guys shot in Kiev and Moscow in 2007. I made this clip 3 years ago as free preview clip when we first launched the Wetlook Ukraine site in 2007. That site has since been re-named to http://www.candidwetlook.com.

Unfortunately my original video clip has been recycled in a lousy low quality way. If you want to see the high quality versions of our Russian and Ukrainian fountains scenes you can find them at http://www.candidwetlook.com -- and for high quality sampler clips from this series, go to my Rapidshare folder and download them from there. FYI, I was posting free sample clips from the Russian fountains series every month, but stopped posting them for the last few months due to lack of feedback on this forum ....cos my posting philosophy for free videos is ..."the squeaky wheel gets the grease"...and when I get no feedback or thanks for posting free videos, then I stop posting them, and I had posted more than 30 high quality free vids from the Russian fountain series which were downloaded by 400+ people per video, and less than 3 peple ever thanked me for those postings.

So....the squeaky wheel (wetlook fans) get the grease (free vids) ....and this forum does not seem to need greasing these days, it gets so many youtubes and tagstubes every day, there does not seem to be much interest in higher quality media.

Note to Nigel: One of the features I really like about the vBullletin forum software, is that every posting has a "thanks" button, and people can quickly click on the "thanks" button and there is a counter that shows how many forum folks appreciated that posting. No need to write anything....just a quick click and a "thanks" button/counter would certainly give us media creators more motivation to provide more media for the folks. All it needs to say is "people who said thanks = 15" and that will inspire the video posters to create more good stuff for the fans to enjoy, but when you get taken for granted, and not acknowledged, that is when you lose motivation to create more media etc. We have all these message icons that folks can use on this forum...most of which are silly and irrelevant.....but not one single icon for "thanks"....how ironic.
