In Europe this is really common on jeanswear for the reasons Erik stated. And in Europe there is no hatred towards America so wearing such jeans doesn't put you in danger well at least between Lisbon and Warsaw and Hesinki and Athens - don't know how it is outside the EU, not to mention Arab Countries.
