All good suggestions here so far even if some of them contradict each other... everyone has their own styles, I am sure that you will find yours. I will add a counterpoint to the previous poster in that I like to have the models look into the camera. To me it makes it more personal... I love pretty eyes.
One thing that no one has mentioned yet is a 2257 statement or model release. Make sure that you get a copy of the models ID proving her age. This will protect you in case the kiddie porn Gumba's come breaking down your door, could help make sure that you don't spend a lot of quality time with a guy named Bubba, and have to register as a sex offender for the rest of your life.... like when we were teenagers... just because she says she's 18, 21, 24 doesn't mean she is always verify, and always document it... you don't need to pack a copy machine, you need only make your first shot, the one of her ID. You can always block out her address, it need only have her name, and her date of birth and her photo unobstructed. I do this for every model, and I have a couple who are obviously over 18... you can't be to thorough. You may think that what you are shooting isn't pornographic and so there is no need for this step.... believe me, you don't want to find out too late that you are wrong.... refer to my previous Bubba statement.
Also... be sure you get a proper model release signed. In most jurisdictions you must have a proper release in order to publish your material on the internet. You can be sued, and in some jurisdictions even have criminal charges levied against you if you do not... in the states we call it CYA..... Cover Your Ass. You cannot be too careful. |

By Arthur+Chappell - arthur@chappell7300.freeserve.co.uk Thu 07/01/10 21:21:47 GMT Website: http://arthurchappell.me.uk/wetlook.in.popular.culture.htm With some excitement, I have arranged a chance to do some wetlook photography with a model (a lady in her mid-twenties) in the near future, most likely a bathtub and shower shoot, with a chance of a swimming pool shoot later on. I am wondering therefore if the forum has some tips on taking good shots, ie, how hot should a bath’s water run, so that the model is comfortable but not to steam out a bathroom and make the shots look cloudy, etc. – What, apart from obvious blunders like leaving a lens cap on, etc, can ruin a god wetlook shot (I’m talking as a photographer here, rather than a fan. It would be good to see the excellent togs here talk about the mistakes they have made for those of us just starting out. When the shoot has taken place, I’ll arrange to show some of the work through here too. Cheers. Arthur Chappell |
