Clues:

1. He is Fred MacMurray (instantly recognizable to anyone who grew up watching the US TV show "My Three Sons" and/or various Disney movies such as "The Absent Minded Professor" and "The Shaggy Dog".

2. She calls him "Tom", and he calls her "Edwina"

A quick sift through Fred M.'s resume reveals...

"The Rains of Ranchipur"

... and she is Lana Turner (OK, so 1950s movie geeks will probably have recognized her where I did not).
