On some affected posts I've seen it on other fields, someone even had it in an email, as they had 'misused' the email field for a comment.
I've not managed to get the effect here at all, so not much I can do at the moment.
As a general note, the name/email are saved as cookies, so you can look in your cookie store, to see what is saved, the cookies are only used at the new message stage, and are updated only when the message is submitted. At the preview (and submit) stages the name/email/etc are just pulled up from the previous forum fields.

By Malvineous - mrnemesis@ntlworld.com Tue 08/09/09 17:39:53 GMT Wonder if it's some kind of add-on. Martin, what happens if you start Firefox in Safe Mode (Start > (All )Programs > Mozilla Firefox > Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode)) or with a clean profile (close Firefox and drag your profile to the desktop for a minute, it's a folder called %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\something.default).
I know what Firefox is doing, but I'm not sure what's triggering it and why, and with lots of add-ons and other tweaks it's possible to trigger undesirable behaviour.
What I'm not sure about is whether + is always encoded as %2B even in browsers that encode space as %20. If so, then it would be safe to always convert + to space.
Also, why is the name field is treated differently to other fields? Not sure if that's a Firefox problem, or a problem with the new C code calling the wrong function to decode, analagous to PHP's urldecode() and rawurldecode(), the former uses + for space, the latter, %2B. |

By Spaced Malvineous - mrnemesis@ntlworld.com Tue 08/09/09 13:35:00 GMT Firefox 3.5.2 in XP SP3. I forget when I first saw Firefox using + instead of %20 ... probably 3.0.
Let's see what happens. |
