that isn't just something what happen in the WAM area. For example, Playboy US decided not to go on with producing DVDs or Blu-Ray! They made that decission last year, and focus now onto download/membership market. So when the biggest players in this game don't produce DVDs or Blu-Ray anylonger, why should a WAM producer do this? Furthermore to ship DVDs, customers have to pay shipping costs and have to wait a couple of days for their videos. I personally have often the problem when I'm traveling, then I have to find somebody who can ship the DVDs for me. So all these points make it way easier just to offer downloadvideos for the producers for my opinion.

And I can tell you, producing really good DVDs (especially when they are filmed in HD) is very complicated. So maybe also the new HD-Cams everybody is using nowadays are the reason why producers don't offer DVDs anylonger. It took me for example a very long time (month) to find a workflow how I could downconvert my HD Videos to a normal PAL or NTSC standart DVD in a very good quality. So it's not just clicking one button and the software does it for you, no that will give you a very bad looking result.

Our newest DVD & Blu-Ray will release soon, but I'm working on this now for 4 days! This is really a pain and when you see this in an economic view, offering DVDs or Blu-Ray (but filmed in HD) is a really bad thing you can offer. I could realease more videos when I would also stop continue making DVDs and maybe for Watec it's and others it'll be the same. In the past with the old standart definition camcorder it took me just one day for publishing a DVD!

However, after all those hard work and when I said 20 times per day "I will not going on with DVDs or Blu-Ray" it's allways a pleasure for me to see how amazing our videos look on DVD and especially on Blu-Ray. I really would wish more people will get access to Blu-Ray, soon to see that picture quality. However, maybe I will also stop publishing DVD or Blu-Ray in future and decide to offer more updates then .... I don't know yet.

I really hope I could help you a little bit to find reasons why many producers maybe don't offer DVDs anylonger.
