Perhaps it has to be something _new_ at exactly the right moment?

I would like to see some scientific investigation into this. The ethics of such an experiment would be a nice topic to discuss: We'd have to take a couple of hundred of pre-adolescents, keep them in a fetish-controlled environment and see how they turn out. On the down side, we'd be 'harming' them for the rest of their lives. On the 'plus' side: That 'harm' will be done anyway by natural surroundings, and in a controlled environment, we might keep some of them from becoming child-molesters or sadistic rape-murderers.

Meanwhile, I consider myself quite lucky with my wet-fetish, but it's not always been that way. Before I entered the 'net, I thought I was very alone and twisted in my love for wetness. I was ashamed of it and afraid of indulging in it. I tried to refrain from it, and keep myself from all wet triggers, but didn't manage: The urge was to strong.

When the 'net told me I was not alone, I managed to rid myself of the shame. I keep my fetish on a need-to-know basis, but that's all. I've spent many a lovely day on a beach, or stream or in a rain-soaked forest, alone or with the loviest girls I can imagine. It's given me all the erotics and joy that sex can, but with no STD's or children, which I'm very grateful for.

Isn't the Internet a true blessing?

Another musing: Fetishes are condemned by most of society, while at the same time, juveniles are kept from all erotic material, leaving them completely on their own in finding what's sexy and what's not. Society should either expose its children to X-rated porn or except that they develop other interests. The way it's handled now is just plain cruel.

I just read what anonymous and Leon posted. Yeah, I think luck or timing was a factor for me too. At the precise time when I was coming of age, I saw these cute wet girls, and the rest is history.

I think about this a lot. I especially wonder how or when this kink started in me. I almost drowned a couple times when I was young, before I learned to swim, and I fell into lakes (fully clothed). People often eroticize traumatic events (hence rape fantasies, cuckold fantasies, bondage, etc.) But I think the more like cause was girls I saw getting wet at the same time I was hitting puberty--my girlfriend who used to always end up getting soaked in the kiddie pool at the park in her jeans in sixth grade, and two girls I saw swimming in thin halter tops with no bras soon after. I don't know though; sometimes I think I was born a wet fan. I've never been nearly as turned on by nudity as I am by girls fully clothed and wet. Even dry, I am more turned on by a girl in tight jeans and a tight stretchy shirt than one completely naked, which is why strip clubs have never appealed to me.

So the root of the fetish is hard to pinpoint (for some people, not for others for whom there was one clear event that started it). But after that, there is definitely a process of reinforcement and conditioned response. The more I indulge my interest, the more often I get wet and see photos of hot girls getting soaked (I just joined Wetlook Online for the second time--yowza, what a phenomenal site! Thousands of pics, super sexy girls who obviously "get it", and especially nice for jeans fans like me) the more my fetish is reinforced.

This question came to me after I was engaged in an IM conversation with someone, and eventually I happened to bring up one of the wetlook sites that frequently advertises themselves on this forum (Which one? Visit them all, dammit!

), and he more or less laughed it off, finding it totally weird and lousier than softcore pornography, prior to making theories on the webmaster's income, saying that he makes probably $30,000 a year off that website (the guy I was talking to runs a fansite for a sports team, BTW) and then he joked that he should start his own porn site.

So this led me to another question, is our enthusiam of wetlook something we trained ourselves to be, or is it an innate characteristic, activated by a satisfying stimulant?
