I'm not sure I want to tackle the "is it still wetlook" question, but I think it's safe to assume that it will be about as interesting wet as a swimsuit would be. In other words, it will probably not exhibit any of the hallmarks of wetlook - shine, cling, color change, or transparency. Of course I will stand to be corrected, but in the absence of evidence to the contrary, I'm going to take the cynical position on this one.
Now it does raise an interesting point about popular living - pool parties and the frequency with which guests end up in the pool while still in party clothes rather than swimwear. That company would not have created such an item without having recognized a demand for it. When you think about it, it kinda gives the girl a sense of "ready for the unexpected" - which kinda makes the unexpected well... expected. Could take all the fun out of a spontaneous toss if she arrives at the party knowing it's coming.
Hmmm... pool-friendly party casual attire for men - polos and slacks made of swimsuit material? Nahhh!

In reply to Message (39573) A dress for the pool
By A Nonny Mouse - Wed 01/04/09 18:19:57 GMT Just found on a mail-order clothing website - a dress whose description says it "doesn’t mind getting thrown into the pool fully clothed". If the folks at Athleta designed it that way on purpose (and it sounds like they did), then I'd love to get invited to their company party.
Be sure to click on "Zoom Image - More Views" to see a real person wearing it.
Now the philosophical question is: If the manufacturer says it's OK for a woman to swim in it, is it still wetlook if she does? Personally, I wouldn't want to make any hasty judgements without seeing ample photographic evidence first. :-)
