Just did a quick search on Wikipedia and found this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Quantum_Leap_episodes), which sounds like your episode:

Season 1 - Episode "Freedom" (original air date Feb 14, 1990)

Sam leaps into a young imprisoned Native American named George Washaki who is trying to take his dying grandfather back to the reservation where he can die in peace.

I'm not sure if there are full episodes of Quantum Leap online. Hulu.com does not seem to have any.

Does anyone recall an episode of Quantum Leap where Sam, an old Native American and his Grandaughter are travelling through open countryside. Towards the end they have to cross a river to get to the sacred land. The old man is on a horse and Sam and the grandaughter (who is somewhere around 20-25 years of age) have to wade through the torrent guiding the horse. The woman is wearing light blue jeans tucked into leather knee boots and a heavy sweater. There is a really good scene of her coming out of the water absolutely soaking wet. I have tried to find this episode on DVD but I cannot find it....
