You know what they say about opinions; like assholes, everyone has one.

I was going to comment about the great lighting. Looks like they were using a reflector or filtered fill flash. I thought it was pretty spectacular. If they had used a sunset they would have had to shoot into the sun and used a reflector to fill the shadow. Early morning and late afternoon are my favorite times because of the temperature of the avaliable light.

I was going to point this out to TJ who has been doing some great photos of his beautiful wife.

I do agree with you that sunsets can make a fantastic background but it is really tricky to get the shadows filled.

I'm glad to see people discussing this. Those are really beautiful and clear shots. Thanks for sharing.

Some of them (I think) could have made more use of the background. For example, the sun was setting, yet it seems to be just about irrelevant, which is almost a letdown, since seeing a sunset (or sunrise) over water is purely spectacular. Add in the model...

They're still good shots, but there was some unused potential, though.

... and yes, this is coming from someone who wasn't there, so what do I know...
