I think it was John Cleese and Monty Python who first invented that idea of a desk in the middle of a river or ocean....cos Cleese did that on 2-3 different python shows in the early 70's. There was also a similar scene on Spike Milligan's 70's UK comedy series called "Q" that I remember....where Spike is with a buxom lady in a leather dress in the ocean...and he baptises here in the ocean very nicely. I used to have that scene on an old Betamax tape....but I lost many of my old 70's videotapes when my house got burgled in 1976...while I was at work....and the buggers took all my tapes, tv, hifi...and even took my mini cooper too.
I don't care about the tv or hifi or my car....cos those were replaceable....but I lost many early 70's UK tv wetlook scenes on my old betamax tapes that will never be aired on tv again.

By Drdamp - Mon 16/02/09 09:30:41 GMT I remember a chat show in the UK during the 80's I think it was, and interviews used to take place in what looked like the Thames river. They used to have a desk and lamp floating in the water too. Quite funny. The only down side for me was that the people in the water wore wetsuits under their outfits and some wore life jackets. Of course I always enjoyed the interviews with female celebrities in their dresses better. Anyone else remember that show? I can't even remember the name of the show. |
