It has to be the 2nd option....because the first option would be illegal and not authorized by Youtube and the creators of those Youtubes. We can only store authorized links to Youtubes...not copy the actual videos....because we must respect the rights of the Youtube users and Youtube. The Youtube users decide if their videos can be "fed" or not....so no site is allowed to "take" youtube videos without the permission of the creators of those Youtubes etc. The only way we can legally do things is to follow the concepts of authorized RSS feeds....i.e. when you cut and paste a youtube link, our script will check to see if that Youtube video is authorized to be fed to external sites or not (which is yes, by default when you upload a video, unless you set your Youtube profile to say "no...do not feed my video" etc). So....95% of Youtubes are authorized to be fed to other sites, but they can't be copied onto other sites.
Also....if at later date, a Youtube user decides they want to disable their video or remove it, they have the right to do that...and that will automatically disable their feed too....so we must play by the rules and allow Youtube users to control whether their videos get fed or not, and when they wish to disable them etc.

In reply to Message (38921.1) Does Wambank store them?
By Mahoney - Tue 03/02/09 20:38:08 GMT Import them to it's server, so that they are available even if the originals are deleted or is it just embeding technology used for youtubes on countless sites? If it's the second, it's cool too, but if it's the first option, then it's something marvelous :)

In reply to Message (38921) For Youtube collectors - a new Wambank feature for you
By MK - wamtec@comcast.net Tue 03/02/09 17:04:08 GMT Website: http://www.thewambank.com/ For all of you who love to collect Youtubes, we have launched a new free feature you can use at theWambank this week, to help you display, store and share your favorite Youtubes.
TheWambank now has a new feature called "Suggest Youtube Video" -- see the blue button midway down the home page of theWambank - after the main videos area, and also in the left margin area of your Wambank profile. To collect and store Youtubes, all you have to do is cut and paste your favorite Youtube links into the cut and paste box, and then theWambank RSS system will call up your suggested video immediately and display the video and store it for you in your Wambank user profile. You can then share your playlists of youtubes by quoting your wambank profile and your collection of favorite Youtubes.
Have a play with the new "suggest a Youtube" feature....it is real easy to collect and store your favorite Youtubes along with your favorite Wambank videos...all in one profile.
regards MK & EuroWAM TEAM
