Some of you may recall my post this past September here on Bill Cunningham's photo essay of the cloudburst that followed a fashion show in Bryant Park in New York City. (That was at "http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2008/09/26/fashion/shows/20080927-street-feature/"). Well, with wet snow blanketing New York, Cunningham has been at it again, photographing women in everything from dressy heels to brightly-coloured wellingtons stepping off New York's kerbs into deep puddles of slush:

Gender purists please note that this photo essay contains about as many men as women -- so do be prepared for that -- nevertheless, the photographs of women are worth paging through the men. My favourites, in two difference veins, are the completely submerged heels at 2:35 remaining, and the yellow wellingtons at 1:18 remaining. Cunningham's narration, too, is precious; he revels in the shock and surprise of the suddenly submerged tourists and businesspeople, whose personal boundaries have been abruptly violated by nature: "like a ballet or a dance, a wonderful animation to fashion. . . they lose all sense of decorum. . . ."
Not the usual sort of post in this forum, but nevertheless I thought that many of you might appreciate it.
