Recently many folks on this forum have been raving about the upcoming movie "How to Lose Friends & Alienate People", and the scene where Megan Fox goes into the pool in her evening dress....but trust me...there is a U.S./German film from 1964 that has a scene far better that that. This is the very rare 1964 film called "Corpse of Beverly Hills" (which was released as "Lu" in the UK) and released in Germany at "Die Tote Von Beverly Hills".

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058673/

The scene in this film is 10 times better than the Megan Fox scene. In "Corpse of Beverly Hills" there is a scene where Heidelinde Weiss wades into the pool with other guests in evening wear, wearing her evening gown and gloves and heels, while they watch a performance artist in the pool. The way she nonchalantly wades into the pool (like Angie Dickinson on "Pearl") and then wades around up to her neck and then walks up the steps to get out the pool...like this is perfectly normal...is a truly amazing sight.

The film has never been released on video, but it has been shown at various film festivals, cos it won a Cannes Film festival award in 1964, and was aired only 4 years ago at the Berlin film festival. The film is sometimes shown on German tv channels...but I have yet to find anybody who captured it from tv yet.

I have a bootleg copy of the entire film (taped by pointing a video camera at a movie screen)...so my copy of the film is rather fuzzy and not in sharp focus...so I hope that one day one of our German wetlook fans will capture this movie scene in a better quality than I have.

In reply to Message (37282) Hello MK's most wanted clips - mostly for UK wetlook fans

Seeing as Francis and Waterspaniel were both asking about old/rare tv wetlook clips, and what I am still hunting for...here is an update to my "Most Wanted" list for you to chew over.

SEXTON BLAKE (a UK tv series from 1967 to 1971, 50 episodes)

http://www.televisionheaven.co.uk/sexton.htm

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0196290/episodes#season-1

I watched this show and in 1969 there was an awesome wetlook pool party scene, where people are in fancy dress at a costume party and playing in the pool fully clothed. So far this Redifusion tv series (later called ITV or on the LWT channel)  has never been re-aried. Some archive sites say that some of the episodes may been erased, but some still exist. Maybe some of the episodes will get released on DVD one day, or aired on the UK Gold channel that airs old tv shows.

DO NOT ADJUST YOUR SET (a UK tv series made in 1969). This show was basically the forerunner to MONTY PYTHON, cos half of the cast in this show were later in Python, plus this was David Jason's first comedy series too.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Do_Not_Adjust_Your_Set

In one episode there is a parody of Handel's famous orchestral music "Handel's Water Music"....in which the cast appear in formal attire....in bath tubs filled with water and standing under showers. This show was never aired since I first rushed home from school to watch it at 5pm in the afternoons...which is why most people never saw it...cos it was on in the afternoons, before people came home from work and could see it. For almost 40 years the series was unseen...and then a couple of years ago they FINALLY found the old masters and released the "so called" series on DVD....

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Not-Adjust-Your-REGION-NTSC/dp/B0009GX20K/ref=pd_sbs_d_h__4

... but the DVD was a rip off....cos they only had 12 episodes on the DVD....not the full 27 episodes that were made....and the scene I want was not on the DVD. So....lets hope they someday release a "Season 2" DVD of this series.

MARTY FELDMAN TV SERIES (several): It amazes me that you have a legenday comic genius such as Marty Feldman, yet 90% of his UK tv series remain unavailable and have not aired in 40 years. His movies are all available, but hardly any of his tv series that I watched in the late 60's and early in the UK have been released yet. There were many slapstick scenes in his UK tv series...including one memorable wetlook scene I recall where he is a flamenco dancer....dancing with a soaking wet flamenco girl in the rain. The Marty tv series to keep a lookout for...are

The Marty Feldman Comedy Machine (1971-1972)

The Marty Feldman Show (1972)

Marty Abroad (1971)

Marty Amok (1970)

Marty (1968)

Maybe they will find these old series and release them on DVD or air them on UK gold some day.

THE MICHAEL BENTINE SHOW: Another UK comic genius (and Goon star) was Michael Bentine, and in the 1970's (before he made his Potty Town tv series) he had a great sketch on one his shows called "Underwater Hamlet"...where all the cast of Hamlet are wading about in waist deep water....I would love to find this clip again (I had on Betamax tape in the 1970's....but I lost that tape and many others, plus my videogear + stereo + my mini cooper too, when my house in the UK was burgled in 1976)

THE KEN DODD SHOW: Another UK comedy giant. I watched a show he did in the late 1960's...where they did "ballroom dancing in a pool"...with all the ladies dancing in their dresses in a swimming pool. The 1960's episodes of the Ken Dodd show have yet to re-surface in 40 years either.

WHATS ON NEXT (a UK comedy sketch series from 1976 to 1978). This show was the British copycat version of LAUGH IN.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0196303/

There were several wet and messy sketches in this series. I used to have some of them on tape (before somebody stole my old tapes in 1976).  This was Jim Davidson's first series...so hopefully it will get released on DVD some day.

THE GOODIES: Again...it amazes me that such a classic UK comedy series, as "The Goodies" was (70 episodes from 1970 to 1982) has never been re-run on UK tv since it aired. Read the reasons "why" in this wiki arcticle....i.e. the Head of the BBC hated that show...and refused to allow it to be re-aired...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Goodies

The ONLY episodes that have been released on DVD...are a mere 12 episodes...and none of them contain the wanted wetlook scenes I remember seeing. I recall one episode with arabian girls fully clothed in a spa pool...and in another memorable episode they did a parody of the royal family and a garden tea party....which is flooded with water....and all the ladies at the garden party are wading about in waist deep water.  The series was popular in Australia too, so there is more chance that the show may re-run one day on Aussie tv...or perhaps the powers at the BBC will relent...and let it air on UK gold channel one day.

JULIETTE DE SADE: A 1969 UK/Swedish/Italian movie...released in the UK as "The Heterosexual".

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064524/

I saw this film at a sleazy backstreet Soho cinema in London in 1969...and it contains 2 excellent fully clothed wetlook scenes, with one scene where a girl in pantsuit goes in the shower, and another scene with a girl swimming in a dress at a pool party. Sadly, the film has yet to be released on tape or dvd...or aired on TV...but they HAVE released the soundtrack from the film...cos it has memorable synthesizer music by Bill Conti (Rocky music composer)

http://www.musicfromthemovies.com/review.asp?ID=984

This film is unlikely to air on UK tv, but it may air on Italian or Swedish tv.

THE DONNY AND MARIE TV SERIES: The story here...is similar to the story with "The Goodies" tv series....i.e. over 70 episodes...but only a handful have ever been re-aired or released on DVD. In this case, while Donny has all the mastertapes for his old 1970's series, he has been unable to get release forms signed from all the stars who appeared on his shows. Thats the same problem they recently had with the DVD boxed set release of the old DEAN MARTIN SHOWS...i.e. over 300 shows were made...but only 50 of the shows could be released on DVD...cos Guthy Renker could not secure releases from all the guest stars appearing on many shows....so over 250 of those shows cannot be released. Anyway, Donny has the same problem. There WERE several nice wetlook scenes in that series (e.g. Marie getting pushed into the pool in a schoolgirl uniform)...but we have been unable to see those...cos Donny has only released about 10 of the 70 shows in his "Best of" collection...so we are missing all the best wetlook and pie scenes from that series. The best chance to find those missing shows...would be from private collectors who taped the series, and so look on http://www.ioffer.com to find those folks who have old series that they taped privately.

IT'S A KNOCKOUT (1958 to 2001 inter-town gameshow): The "original" show was called TOP TOWN in the UK in 1958, but by the mid 1960's they re-named it as IT'S A KNOCKOUT. That is when I started watching the show...in it's "glory days"...when all the girls wore gym skirts for the pool games. In the 1970's the show spawned a Euro version called "Jeux Sans Frontieres"...and many versions in other countries (i.e. Telematch in Germany, and Gran Prix in Spain)...and the ONLY version of this show still airing today....is the French version called "Intervilles"....which still produces some nice clips today...

http://www.thewambank.com/search.php?searchfor=Intervilles

Sadly, the UK version degenerated rapidly (in later years it was all stupid animal costumes or t shirts and swimsuit...no decent clothings in the pool any more). What I am hunting for...are the old UK shows from the 1960s to early 70's, before the " t shirts and shorts" and stupid animal costumes era...and the era where all the girls wore gym skirts and blouses in the pool games. BTW...kudos to the 1980s Australian version of It's a Knockout, cos they had lots of great scenes in their version of this show that I was able to capture (i.e. cheerleaders getting wet, Alice in Wonderland girls in the pool etc).

PLAYGIRLS / PLAYGIRLS Q: These 2 Japanese tv series (from 1968 to 1974) were actually what Aaron Spelling copied when he created CHARLIES ANGELS in 1976. This is the series that Charlies Angels was based on. The first series (PlayGirls) had over 300 episodes, and the sequel series (Playgirls Q) had another 80 episodes. Every 1hr episode featured 4-6 sexy detective girls, and there were NUMEROUS wetlook scenes in these shows. I used to watch this series every day when I was living in Hong Kong in 1979...and they used to air it every night on late night television on TVB channel in those days. I lost count of how many wetlook scenes I saw (and was unable to save them). The good news is...they have now released about 24 episodes of this series on DVD in Japan (and I ordered all of those), and I did find a collector in Hawaii who has another 40 shows and have been trading with him, so I am gradually finding some of the episodes....but there are still more than 250 episodes we are still looking for. At least I "did" find the wetlook nurse outfit/pantyhose scene that you can see on Youtube...i.e. I have this episode...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-B53Tc_tTrI

If you live in Asia....look for this series if it airs on TV or is released on DVDs.

TAKE THREE GIRLS: This was a 1969 to 1971 UK tv series that I saw, and now that I look at it again...I now realize where the Americans got the idea for their series SEX IN THE CITY.,..cos this UK series is basically exactly the same as SEX IN THE CITY (3 girls about town etc). The series had a memorable theme song that was a Top 10 hit at that time. I remember watching one episode, where one of the girls has to hide from a guy...so she climbs into the bath tub fully clothed in her minidress and tights, and hides under the water....and so I have been searching for that scene for 39 years...no luck yet...cos the BBC have never re-aired that series. BUT...the good news is...I recently found out that this was a "landmark series" for the BBC...i.e. it was the first major BBC series ever shot and broadcast IN COLOR...cos 1969 was the year we went to color tv...and so I hope the BBC we re-air this series some day, or release it on DVD...cos it was their first color tv production. I know the series tapes were not erased...cos somebody recently posted this clip of the opening credits on Youtube....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtYpJ8aqa2Y

Aussie tv fans should recognize a grown up Liza Goddard (who was on the old "Skippy" tv series).

THE NAKED BRIGADE: A Shirley Eaton movie from 1965. Don't be fooled by the title, there is no nudity, but scenes of Shirley swimming in the sea in a dress. So far, it has never been re-aired or released on tape or DVD.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059494/

RUN FOR YOUR LIFE: The old Ben Gazarra tv series that ran for 4 years (from 1965 - 1968). It had the same hilarious error that M*A*S*H had (i.e. MASH tv series was about the Korean war...and the tv series actually lasted 3 times longer than the real Korean war did). In " Run For Your Life", the concept for that series is that Ben Gazarra has an incurable disease and only has 9 months to live (which was funny...cos somehow he managed to live for 4 years while the tv series was airing). Anyway, there is one memorable evening dress pool catfight episode (ala Dynasty) in that series, that I have been trying to find for many years. I have a shot at getting that episode soon, cos there is a new "Retro TV" channel now airing this show every weekend on my cable system....so I should get that episode later this year.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Run_for_Your_Life_(TV_series)

WITH LOVE, SOPHIA: This is the 1967 tv special that Sophia Loren made, where she dances in a flamenco dress, nylons and heels...and goes into the pool in her dress etc. Wetfan managed to find all the still photos

from tv magazines in 1967...i.e. they are on JJ's site...

http://www.vintagewet.com/wfa/scrap/a04/wfscrap19.html

http://www.vintagewet.com/wfa/scrap/a04/wfscrap20.html

http://www.vintagewet.com/wfa/scrap/a04/wfscrap21.html

http://www.vintagewet.com/wfa/scrap/a04/wfscrap22.html

http://www.vintagewet.com/wfa/scrap/a04/wfscrap23.html

I have done some research, and it seems that the ONLY known videotape of this tv special, is currently being held at the UCLA television archives, their library states that the tape is in poor condition and the tape is decaying, so they will not release it for airing, and they will only release it if somebody shells out big bucks to restore this old videotape etc. The best chance we have...is that it seems that actor Peter Sellers was also on this show, and so this is a long lost Peter Sellers item that has never been seen in 40 years, so hopefully a Peter Sellers historian will pay to restore this show and release it on DVD some day.

ODD MAN OUT - This was a UK comedy series that John Inman (Mr Humphries on "Are You Being Served") made for Thames television in 1977. They only made 7 episodes, but at least 2 of them had some very good slapstick scenes. In one episode the girls get covered in paint, and in one memorable show I remember the girls in the cast wade into the sea fully clothed. I am surprized that they have not released or re-aired this series so far. John Inman died last year, so I would have thought they would show this comedy series as a

tribute to him.

THATS IT FOR NOW
