By bernd2 - Fri 16/05/03 17:00:41 GMT Hi Chester, not only in most cases the pilots hit the water, in all! And in many cases also the launch crew. |

By Chester - chester@sgroi.com Fri 16/05/03 15:34:42 GMT Website: http://redbullflugtag.com I don't know what kind of wetlook this event will yield but here's a "head's up" in case it turns out to be decent and anyone with a camera lives close by. Saw the commercial for this on the tele and pursued it through the Red Bull (drink) website. Apparently, it's an event which started in Europe (look at other countries events from the main redbull.com website) and is now in the U.S.A.
From what I understand people try to build homemade flying machines and then they launch them from a height over a body of water. In most cases, their machine falls into the water as do the wannabe pilots. On the TV I saw some wearing wet t-shirts and shorts while others were wearing latex and helmets so I can't attest to how good the wetlook will be but who knows ...Its's supposed to be wacky and fun though so there's hope. :-)
Here are a few more specific links. Look for the word "Flugtag" on the more general event pages.
