So not only do wet clothes protect us from sunburn and skin cancer, jellyfish stings in the ocean, but now lightning! Yay! I love prancing in thunderstorms, getting completely soaked, but I worry about lightning. Of course, it wouldn't be fun to be knocked unconscious and suffer cataracts and nerve damage. But still, the only prudent thing to do in a lightning storm now is get soaking wet. Hopefully everyone will get the word.
I also think swimming fully clothed is a good way to get rid of ticks and chiggers. After a hike, if you jump in the lake, clothes and all, you'll leave all the creepy crawlies behind. Or, as I did yesterday at a state park, I got completely soaked in the lake *first* (wearing tight jeans, a white t-shirt with a nice dress shirt over that) and THEN I went walking in the state park. In this way, I fended off heat stroke (and felt fantastic) too. Then, after I was almost dry, I jumped in the lake again for a good soak, before driving home, sopping wet and tick-free.
