Bugbear affects IE 5.0 and 5.5. I have read that IE 6.0 is safe from it. Consider upgrading. Also, the latest IE6 has several nice security features not included in the first incarnations of IE6. If I remember, it's about an 18 meg download for most folks. The 'improved' OE comes with it, as well as an update to WMP (love how MS lumps WMP with IE and OE!). Again, make sure your virus definitions are up to date!! This one can also affect Netscape users, too. I had it arrive in my mailbox the day before the anti virus experts had released a cure. It did make an impact with IE6, but it died almost instantly, as IE6 is not affected by it. There was a flurry of HD activity. I felt something evil had entered the computer while receiving mail. I deleted the attachment out of hand & after reading about it the next day, took measures to double-check to make sure things were clean. I was surprised that NAV heuristics did not catch it; it caught ol' Klez a couple of times while it was too new to make the news (and before any definitions were available). Sometimes, upgrading is not a step really upwards, but I was glad IE6 was a step in the correct direction the other day!!!
