You know what they say about opinions; everyones' got one. It is an interesting concept. You live vicariously through your avatar. You can do things that you wouldn't dare do yourself.
Now, this is strictly entertainment. I can see where some people (who don't have a life) could get too involved and totally lost in the fantasy. But, is it any worse than spending your time (and fortune) in a casino or house of ill repute? I'm sure that there is a state governor who would be much better off if he had had an avatar and not a call girl (which are also available on SL). You can get involved and spend too much time in the fantasy world. Then, you can get too involved and spend too much time in Wetlook World Forum. It is difficult to learn and find your way around. I had just dropped in and met a woman who was also brand new. She solved a lot of the problems by learning from others then she taught me how to navagate. The more you learn the easier it is. We used to have a lot of chat rooms on the wet web. They are all gone. No interest. There are wet sites in second life. I have only scratched the surface and haven't run into many people in there. If more of us with like interests would try it, it might be one more forum for our interests. You can find lots of interests in SL. Flying, sports, shopping, beauty, sex, etc. I haven't researched a tiny fraction of what is there. You are right, it could be dangerous, it could be a waste of time. Everyone has an opinion. I think people should try it. If you don't like it then just don't use it. If it could be a forum for interests like ours I think it would be great. Dive in and try it. |

By Anonymous - Wed 12/03/08 03:45:07 GMT So I've heard about second life online and in the news, a lawsuit pending as well as the issues of "the true representation of the real person through the avatar". Well I guess since it is called "second life" then perhaps it would truly be a forum where you be represented as who you desire being in your "second life". I digress though, I stepped into 2nd life for a couple of minutes, the registration was easy but from what I read one can plan on spending weeks trying to understand and negotiate the virtual landscape! I guess my question to you or anyone is, what is the advantage? Why take the time I ask? What do YOU think about it and should others pursue it? Lastly in terms of the avatar how perfectly unique can you make your character?? Your thoughts. |

By soggybottom - Tue 11/03/08 12:53:06 GMT Recently someone was talking about a website called Second Life. I became curious and tried it. It was a little difficult to navigate everything but I managed to sign up and develope an avatar. I found a few people in there who were willing to help. I did find two wetlook sites and one wetting site. There is a lot there to browse through and explore. All kinds of interests are represented. As usual, the wetlook sites are thinly populated. There are very few people using them. Kind of like the chat lines that we USED to have here. People here may want to try this site. It is interesting. And, we need more interaction.
