Last year, we were out of pocket by $1500. That's $1500 that WE paid to give free material back to the community. People like MK do that same. My business is web hosting and web design - it's what I do for a living. Therefore I have access to hosting services at good prices. I pass those on to the community too. In fact I host several sites for no cost at all - for example, http://vintagewet.grayhost.net

So, when something is offered for free, take it and don't knock it. Remember it can easily be taken away again. There are thousands of other people who gratefully accept the free material. After all, we don't force you to take it do we? If we JUST ran a members site and gave nothing back to the community I could understand the criticism of us. We were handing back 50Gb of bandwidth material every month for nothing - and all we get in return is complaints. I hope you can see why this makes us wonder why we do it? Maybe we should give nothing back and keep all the profits? Is this what you'd prefer to see?
