Don,
One of the features of the product you mentioned is:
"Analog video capture and editing in MPEG-2 format." See http://www.mediaworkstation.com/2003/03_mar/news/cw_atiaiwna.htm
MPEG2 is the codec used in DVD. But having the video in this format isn't quite enough yet -- you'll need a program to actually BUILD the VIDEO_TS folder that is necessary to play the disk back on your DVD player. Also, you may get 2 hours of high-quality video per disk, or considerably less, depending on how good the device's compression algorithm is.
It sounds like it is feasible, but you will have to pick up a DVD authoring program (unless one is provided with the computer, but they are usually of poor quality) and do some experimentation on your own. Be prepared for some frustration (anybody who has ever tried to cram 2 hours of high-quality video onto a single disk -- as I eventually did manage to do -- knows what I'm talking about).
You could also purchase a DVD recorder and burn VHS straight to DVD, but it is more costly. There will be no menu buttons or scene breakdowns either.

By Don - Tue 22/04/03 01:53:12 GMT In the near future I must upgrade my computer. In the new Dell catalog they offer not only a DVD+RW/+R drive for $180 but also an ATI All-In-Wonder 9000 Pro TV tuner card that will save TV to the hard drive. Since it has S-Video and Component inputs can someone tell me whether I could play my old wetlook tapes into the TV tuner card, record them to hard drive, and them record them to DVD? Some of the old tapes are starting to show their age and it would be very nice to save them permanently as well as edit out stuff I don't care for. Thanks for any help.
