Well the tradition is Smigus Dyngus and it's from pogan times. It's basically the same sa the Thai one but is less wide spread. But still if you are a girl and leave your home in Warsaw on Easter Monday you will get wet. The pictures show. Young men and boys take buckets and soak girls. The plus while comparing to the Thai one is the clothes. Many dresses, tights, stockings and elegant clothes (Easter Monday is a state and churchb holiday here). The minus is that you don't see much action from main streets. You have to go to the suburbian jungles. And going there with video equipment is not quite the best idea.

By klm4748 - Mon 21/04/03 07:33:03 GMT I heard from a Polish friend that one Eastertime tradition is to throw water at each other? What's the scoop? I can imagine it would not be as widespread or as popular as the Thai tradition, given prevailing temperatures! And alas, my friend sent no pictures. |

Very nicely soaked girls shown every hour on Polish satellite news channel TVN 24. On Polish TVP 1 channel at 21:45 a movie about the tradition "Miss mokrego podkoszulka" (Miss wet t-shirt), the trailer has a girl dressed in a suit with C-thru T shirt underneath wet.
Cheers
