That happened to me a couple times in Japan. There was a movie called "Love N' Pop" that was advertised on TV. It was a grade B flick about "Bad Girl" high school chicks. The TV promo showed four or five of the girls (in their uniforms) striding down the beach. Without hesitating they all waded into the surf, shoes, loose socks, pleated skirts, sweaters and all. When the movie came out on tape (no DVDs in those days), I rented it from my local video store. It was a really rotten movie; and the TV promo scene wasn't in it! A real waste of 500 Yen. Then there was "Summer Snow", a TV drama (excuse; "dorama") that ran a promo scene on TV a couple weeks in advance of the start of the new drama season. The 30 second spot should a couple frolicking in the surf and then coming ashore to rest on the beach. The girl wore a long skirted summer dress. It was a great wet scene, but short. I watched and taped as many episodes as I could, but for some reason never got them all (duty days, getting underway or whatever). I always assumed I just missed the episode with that scene in it. Just recently I discovered someone had uploaded all 12 episodes of "Summer Snow" on the Stage 6 DIVX video website. I downloaded and watched them all. I finally found out what happened in the end, and I discovered that the old TV promo scene was not in any of the episodes! At least the script was decent and the acting top notch. I've never been the big fan of Ryoko Hirosue that most of Japan was, but I will admit she was (is, I suppose) a talented actress.

Many have checked out the vintage postings of Wetfan and JJ. In their albums and scrapbooks of the past, there are some great wetlook shots from, presumably, scenes in movies of the past. Photos that appear from time to time are classics of Actress Tina Louise in a sexy wetlook scene in “God’s Little Acre.” Here it is from Wetfan’s Archives.It was even on an album cover I found on Google.

OK, one can acquire that movie on DVD now for just a few bucks. So I did, played it, and the scene was nowhere to be found! Bah. It’s a good movie, but don’t bother taping it if it plays on backchannel late-night TV. Because Tina is there, but the scene ain’t.

This is the second time a wetlook scene from a film was a no show. I remember promotional stills from “The Witches of Eastwick,” showing the three lades (Cher was one of them, I can’t remember the others) dropped into a pool by the evil Jack Nicholson. Rented the tape one night. No such scene.

That’s twice I ve been had. Bah and double bah!
