The disclaimer says to use some of the methods only as a last resort when working with newer hard drives, but it has a lot of info and links in the PDF file.
I usually back up about once a month but a couple of years ago I lost a month's worth of wetlook when the power supply died and sent a surge of power into the hard drive's motor controller (crappy Western Digital.) I still have the drive in hopes that someday I can get hold of the soldering device needed to pull the chip out and replace it.
Good luck! |
