Yeah...I knew they stripped out the identity etc....thats what I meant when I said..."this is the age of Youtube"....i.e. if you make any kind of media these days....somebody will recycle it and it ends up on Youtube.

Yes...thats a valid point about cell phone videos....i.e. why create a high quality site for streaming videos....when many people these days are shooting crappy low res low frame rate videos on their cell phones.....i.e. the old saying...."you cannot make a silk purse out of a sow's ear".

It would be very easy for wam producer to create a fake marketing campaign on Youtube and Myspace...by faking things and pretending to be an amateur. All you have to do is hold the camera sideways and point at all the wrong things etc....ha ha.

Remember the fake "alien autopsy" video in the 1990's.....that was easy to fake...i.e. just shoot in a way that avoid the money shots and the camera goes out of focus and avoids showing you too much...ha ha

I think you overlooked one point here... the clip of stripped of identification. I know it was yours cuz I recognized the "SSS" cheerleader outfits, not to mention at least 1 or 2 of the models.

This sort of "bootlegging" does you a disservice in two ways:

1. Fails to connect back to you so viewers can become WAMTEC customers

2. Crap video quality doesn't impress would-be customers - they'd have to already know that better-quality video is on offer.

There are examples of much better quality video on Youtube. That sample is bad probably cuz it's been transcoded several times over. BTW Flash is not inherently poor or low-res, it's all in the encoding parameters - resolution and frame rate.

I don't think Youtube has any motive to increase video quality. They are about sharing video mostly shot on cell-phones - hi-rez is a waste of time for current cell phones. Also, it's not the video which delivers the revenue, but the ad placement. And finally, it's all about maximizing return on investment... can't spend too much on quality lest it eat into shareholder profits.

This is "the age of youtube".....and whatever you do in life these days....eventually ends up on youtube (be careful of the guy standing next to you in the gents toilet,....if he has a cellphone camera...ha ha)

I have no problems with folks putting some of our clips on Youtube.....but using Youtube is like turning wine into vinegar....cos I just think that Youtube is a crappy quality site....i.e. they were bought by Google for 1.6 billion dollars, and they receive 30 million dollars per month in ad revenues.....so you would think that with all the money they are making, they could afford to install better quality servers, connections and video delivery systems than the crap quality videos they serve up. They are not short of cash....but they spend none of if to make a quality video clips sites.

It is somewhat ironic that all the wam producers we know...who operate like us on shoestring budgets, can provide decent qualiity video downloads and video streaming services.....yet the 2 billionaires who created Youtube, can't seem to make a decent quality video clips site....cos we wam producers can.

Memo to Youtube....for gods sake...spend some of those billions you have in the bank...on creating a better video clips site for the fans....and quit converting people's decent videos....into crappy Flash video format.
