There are limits of how much can sit up there depending on the building codes where you live. I've had to shovel my roof a couple times. Be careful not to shovel all the way down and mess up the roofing. We had thunderstorms wednesday, and flash flood warnings from the melt, rain yesterday, now we're back to blowing snow. If you don't like the weather in Chicago, just wait 24 hours.
