To us it's a win win situation. Most wetlook producers run "cottage industries" where we have to fit in production around our normal jobs. It is much easier to upload content once, to a server, than it is duplicating batches of tapes, sorting out distribution, packaging, etc. It's becomes a labour of love, when after a hard day in your "normal job" you have to attend to a dozen orders that need sorting out- when all you want to do is put your feet up and watch the TV.

The people who buy the content win too. How many people have bought tapes because they want to see one or maybe two scenes? Many people do, but also many people don't. For those that do they have maybe spent $40 on a single scene or a couple of scenes.

By building a large video archive it enables the wetlook fan to either sign up long term and get regular new material every week at low cost. Styx's long term members get an hour a month for around $8, plus still pictures too.

For those with a specific interest in one type of clothing or style, they can possibly join for a single month and download whatever suits them. So for single subscription of $19.99 they can get, say, half a dozen or more scenes that they really want to see, as opposed to paying double that for a video which might only have a small amount of content relevent to them. Again they have the secondary benefit of access to thousands of still pictures too- which you don't get with tapes and only occasionally with DVD's.

So it's better all round, the producers are more able to devote their time to producing more material (or maybe lazing around LOL) rather than packaging and addressing shipments - the wetlook fans can get their content cheaper, faster and, most importantly, specific to their needs.

Finally, Styx took the view that besides those that wish to join paysites and purchase tapes and DVD's there is a broader issue of the community. That is why the freesite exists- admitedy it helps promote what we do- but it also provides free content to thousands of the community. for example, the free MPEG's which are posted have been downloaded thousands of time- we have had over 40,000 video downloads from the freesite alone in the last 12 months. Plus we provide (we realise thay are small) complete free photosets to the community too.

It also must be realised that all the costs for running the freesite are actually borne by the members of Styx paysite. So the free material is not really free, but subsidised by our members for the rest of the community.
