unlikely that the hotel will be OK, and definitely not OK in a big chain hotel - maybe one of the small guest houses wouldn't care. In the sea or river, no one would mind if you got wet, but as a rule westerners don't really swim in their clothes. The Thais generally wear shorts and t- shirt, occassionally jeans. If you want to swim in the sea, all will be well, in the pool , I would be careful or be prepared to be shouted at by hotel security. In the sea choose to swim late afternoon as the day approaches sunset, as this is when most Thais seems to venture to the beach for a cool off. Magician |

By Brian - Mon 18/12/06 10:24:08 GMT We are going to Thailand soon and I have read that lots of Thai people swim in their clothes at the beach. My partner thinks that she would like that just fine. She fancies a 'floaty' dress - but I prefer jeans and a silky shirt. Do many foreigners get in the water with all their clothes on or is it just the locals? I do not want to offend anyone. The other thing we fancy is diving into the hotel pool fully clothed is that seen as OK?
This is a wonderful site and you are a great group of people. So understanding and thoughtful.
I hope you all have a great christmas wherever you are.
