Nothing wrong with anybody wearing their sunday finest. I am sure a true baptist Christian would openly welcome anybody to their church services, and if any visitor feels he she needs to be clothed better (because it's considered respectable) they would provide the clothes, get him/her saved and baptize in whatever he/she is wearing. That's it in a nutshell.

To answer your question, the baptists wear clothes because clothes are fundamentally a part of baptism. A wetlooker looks at just the clothes, (for the most part) an entirely different agenda here. In the early days of the Church, baptisms were always performed right away in whatever they were wearing. (no reference is made of anyone hiring a tailor to make a special garment) More recently, Christians prefer to wear their sunday finest to church. So whatever you may be wearing, so it gets baptized also. Baptism is symbolic of what has happened internally, and has nothing to do with the external, although some baptists do change into gowns which is not scriptural by the strictest interpretaion. The Bible does not make any reference whatsoever that we should look our best for Church, on the contrary, we are encouraged to come as we are. God did the suffering, the dying, and the resurrecting and does the cleansing, we dont! (it's all for the asking because God is not a tyrant and will not force anybody)

Why do the Baptists also wear clothes then? They could wear a wet suit or something, or a ceremonial cloak. The fact that everyday clothes are worn by all, not necessarily smart or best clothes, certainly makes me wonder, and visiters to this forum love to wonder.

To answer the questions why clothes are worn for Baptism, according to the holy Bible, baptism is a command of God which is to immediately follow a person's receiving Jesus Christ as his/her Savior. The fundamentalists believe in the most literal interpretation of God's word, so if God says immerse, they immerse, and you do it as soon as possible, just as you are. The clothes have nothing to do with the ritual. (even if planned in advance, the idea is to enact it as impromptu) Now, just in defense of the Methodists and Catholics, baptism is symbolic of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Sprinkling is just as symbolic as immersion. The baptism itself does not save.. it is a public profession of your salvation. I must agree, however that baptism by immersion according to fundamentalist interpretation does appear to follow scripture to the letter.

My opinion about viewing the pictures for erotic stimulation.. maybe there isn't anything wrong with curiosity, and certainly nothing wrong with finding wet clothes sexually stimulating. I do think restraint is prudent, and to be more thoughtful of the spiritual meaning of the ritual. I think we need to draw our own personal boundaries according to conscience, and if in question, it's safer to be more respectful. (stifle the eroticism.. mind over matter, or ask for forgiveness and it will be so) There is always the more ethical option for role playing in private with a consenting significant other if any of these things turn you on. I would like to see a lady baptized especially in her dress stockings and high heels, and wonder if she enjoyed it. That's not what they are there for, and I would be on an entirely different agenda, and miss something far more rewarding. These people are professing their faith in Jesus Christ. I am just as guilty as any other person, and speak for myself as well.

Well sure looks like a skirt in the first shot.

Would love to see some clear shots in dresses or skirts, still not sure about the fully clothed thing tho,I would rather not have a sacred act turned into a peep show for us wet fans.

If someone does wear a skirt or dress for their baptism I feel awkward getting off on it,but am still drawn to the image, obviously.

Still no answer,why fully clothed??

Anyone else have a problem with baptism pics being posted?

I mean should we be intruding in a private and religious act for our own gratification??

1.  Are you sure she is wearing a skirt?  It sure looks like slacks to me.

2.  "Can someone please tell me why baptisms are done fully clothed, seems to be no reason for this".   Because doing baptisms naked or in bikinis would be immodest and improper!  During my various searches for baptisms, I actually did find a few pictures of baptisms in bikinis and one-piece swimsuits.  AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!  Only a liberal apostate church would allow that!  No real fundamentalist evanhgelical church would do that.  On a related note, sprinkling, especially of babies, is NOT a real baptism!  The Bible clearly says that baptisms are to be by total immersion, and of those who have put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.  The very word baptize comes from the Greek word baptizo, which means total immersion in water. Sorry if I offended any Catholics (Church of England also?), but sprinkling of babies is wrong!
