Firefox - or Slowfox as I use to call it - is unfortunately not the solution. It takes a while to load and the rendering engine is dead slow. There is really not much fire over that fox. Like Windows, it is school example of "modern" highly inefficient programming! It may be safer than IE, but too slow for my temperament - especially the load time, and it still does not have a safe setting where it is GUARANTEED that nothing could happen. I run a number of web sites and program directly in HTML, and I cannot see any reason why it should not be possible to make a 100% safe browser, which nobody can break.

I used Netscape up to version 4.7 (Danish) and was very fond of this. It was approximately three times faster than IE and had a very nice rendering engine, which at once showed the pages in the right proportions (unlike IE and Firefox). Then Netscape committed suicide by turning over to that terrible Mozilla project, which Firefox is also a part of.

I have also tried Opera. It is fast and efficient, but it does not show pages the way IE does and it could not print - at least not to PostScript. I don't know if this is fixed. I have tried to contact Opera, but they do not answer my mails. With a different attitude and more willingness to discuss things and fix the bugs, it may be the best shot for a future alternative to IE.

> "It is always a high-risk matter to visit an unknown site with sexual content"

This is patently false. It's a risk to visit anywhere on the Web with Internet Explorer because that program is so truly lousy. For example, a friend's site hosted at a reputable US university got infected with Nimda and visiting it would then infect any PC running IE.

Sex sites are only unsafe in that they may contain exploits for Internet Explorer. Firefox may get targeted one day as its popularity rises, but Mozilla, while idiots, don't make mistakes by far as stupid as Microsoft and they get the vulnerabilities patched pretty quickly. I am not sure if Opera will ever be popular enough to be a target!

There is no excuse to ever run IE as a primary browser now! Come on folks, move to something less frightening.

I just tried it again and this time nothing happened, so it must have been an event, which had been waiting in the system and was released by a function in your site.

I have also looked in the HTML code of your page to try to find out what may have coursed the hijack warning, but I have not been able to find anything suspicious.

Sorry for the problems my warning may have coursed, but rather a warning too much than one too little. It is always a high-risk matter to visit an unknown site with sexual content, so you cannot be too careful. If your site uses cookies and are not able to work properly with the browser safety set to high (JavaScript disabled), I think it may be a good idea to explain the reason to the user. Too many sites force the user to reduce the safety level, and to many sites just place a cookie without any explanation as if they own the computer.

Dear MaK,

Hmmm, I just double checked it and I don't have any warnings like you, as you already noted in your Ad-watch log the browsers start page was set to microsoft, and you can be sure we never ever would do that to your pc :) so I think too (as you said before) it may be something related to the past sites that you visited, but just to be sure, could you plase visit the site again and see if it tries to change your registry settings? because if it doesn't then it means it was something from your past :), but if it does I would like to know more about your browser settings like type/ver/settings and I would like to have your ad-watch version too so I can make a same test as you did and fix the problem (if there is a problem to fix :) )

Thanks again for all your help/time!

Bests,

TheWAMBank Manager

Strange. From the log of Ad-watch I can see that your site has tried to change the start page of IE to http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir.dll?prd=ie&puer=6&ar=msnhome. It may also have been an event, which has been waiting in the system and has been triggered by your site. I visited a lot of trusted and non-trusted sites for almost one hour before I refreshed your site and this happened.

Dear MaK,

The site does not change any registri entry, it just sets a cookie for your browser and because your browser's safety is set to high you are getting warning dialogs.

The site wants to change a registry value (Windows registration data base) and do not work with IE safety set to high. Be very careful and do not open without a program like Ad-watch!!!

Hello Wetlook Fans

Are you a little frustrated at the way Youtube converts and degrades the quality of your clips, or irritated by the IP blocking and timeout restrictions and lack of a search engine on Rapidshare? If you enjoy sharing WAM TV and movie clips, then why not check out our free file sharing service at TheWAMbank.com We do not alter your clips in any way - you upload them "as is" ...in your own preferred file format, and we present them in the same original format you want people to see them. You have unlimited hosting space and can upload as many clips as you you like...up to 50 megs per file.

The WamBank is a free file transfer service where WAM video collectors and traders can exchange and share their favorite WAM clips from TV, movies and their amateur videos. In the near future you will also see numerous sampler videos from professional WAM producers too. Opening a WamBank account is a free registration, which gives you access to all the free videos on our site. Fans who upload their own clips earn additional credits they that can use or share with their buddies for additional free downloads. See the INFOS page for a full explanation of our "Bank" services.

The WamBank - is your free personal web space for sharing your WAM videos with your friends and also to download thousands of other members' videos too. The key services we offer WAM fans are as follows:

- A free UNLIMITED hosting space account for WAM fans to upload and share their videos (and WAM Producers can upload their trailers and banners and get banner placements and direct links to their sites with all their media too).

Open your FREE WamBank account. We hope you like the site and will use it. TRY OUR SEARCH ENGINE: You will find it a lot of fun - because you can find your favorite clips by genre or by tv show or movie title or by the actress name. We only started the site last week...so we do not have the site fully loaded yet, but within a few months we will have 10 times more clips and you can find all your favorite actresses and scenes -- we have more than 70 collectors uploading clips to the site so far -- these are mostly people from the UMD site who have capture cards. We would love to see more wetlook collectors from this forum with capture card uploading and trying our site too.

I see lots of complaints about Rapidshare on this forum....so give our site a test drive and upload your files to our system instead. The site has an easy to use interface for you to upload your clips, an automatic vidcaps generator that will create thumbnail pictures for you, a comprehensive search engine where you can find whatever subject matter that interests you, and cool slide show displays where you can play all the video caps for each clip in a quickie slide show. You can also enlarge all the caps and hover over each cap with your mouse.

If you are a WAM Producer....check our INFO page for our free advertising "Producers Showcase program".

We invite you all to come and see our site - TheWAMbank.com -- you will have lots of fun browsing thru the pages of wetlook videos already online. It is free for anybody to open an account and you can download the 47 videos in our Free Videos section.

Best Regards
The WamBank Team - TheWAMbank.com
