The server had a disk fault last Friday, and some overheating problems.  

We were recommended to 'upgrade' but unfortunately the new server did have ASP:JavaScript support, which the forum was originally written in.  

Some of the forum was re-coded in C last year to speed it up, but some critical parts were still in ASP. We started a dual approach - some more code was re-written in C, whilst we treid to sort out an ASP server for the new machine.

Luckily we managed to recover the data from the old disk, so none of the messages have been lost since the last backup.

In parallel to getting the forum back up, we have also had to work to get our commercial sites and our clients' sites back working.

Yesterday, we finally the ASP server running, but Sun Microsystems have really screwed the new version...

Appending to the main 21MByte log file was taking over 5 mins ! (this is what the add new message has to do !). So in order to get it up ASAP we have temporarily split the old logs files until we can find a better solution.

Anyhow, full functionallity should now be restored. We've also added a 'Hide Replies" option that had been requested, this collapses each message replies to just the smilie icon (so choose well), but moving your cursor over it will pop-up more details and a tool-tip.
